lmao, someone must've said to him in may "just outplay skinner" and he took it to heart
ngl even with how shit he's been to start this ssn, if we came up against edm again in the spring with skinner and silovs dueling, i'd pick silovs to have the better series again without even thinking twice about it

I think you've got a fundamentally incorrect definition of "complementary" tbh.
Sure. I think your bar is too low for a hockey player.

Bryan Rust is a great complimentary player. Seamlessly fits on a top line, can mentally keep up with stars. Doesn't need PP1, but isn't detrimental to top powerplay duties.

Alex Burrows. Added grit and sandpaper to a top line. Filled in the speed element for a lacking feet Sedin line.

Great should not be mentioned with Debrusk. Sorry I might come off curt, but your words made me mad. Instead, we should be mad at this game, or the players. Or even the coaching.

With how Lankinen has been playing, we might need Patera to outperform Silovs for only 3-5 games until Demko returns.

Whenever Forbort comes back in, he might need to replace Soucy over anybody else.

The word is "complementary" not "complimentary".

It's not a guy who just goes around saying nice things to other players. It's a guy who is "complementary" to the function of a line. ie. He's a guy who isn't the line-driver, he's a complementary part of it. He's a cog in the machine. Not the crankshaft.

Stefan Noesan plays on PP1, based on talent maybe he shouldn't be there but you need the Holmstrom guy who will get the puck and camp at the net, Nucks don't have that, just a bunch of perimeter shooters.
Credit to Noesen, it looked like he might be dropping out of the league but he stayed with it and now he's a solid NHLer.
