Sweden is trying to get their big gun Alfie going. He has been miserable playing with Mats. How long can Mats carry a guy like Alfie. It deflects attention from the real problems. Naslund understands this having played in Montreal were the real big time whiners reside. It is probably were he learned this tactic.
C'mon, admit that posting that made you blush.

A thread whining about someone whining. I hope I'm not the only one who enjoys the irony. Oh well, I hope we can at least be considered benevolent dictators.

One can only hope. I think it would be far better for everyone if Canada ran the world, not just the hockey world, what a Utopia the world would be ;)

No news here. Canada whined non-stop during the WJC. They even managed to put enough pressure on IIHF so IIHF replaced a swedish referee for an american one just before the final Russia-USA, so no wonder divingg Canadian squad had only 14 mnutes of penalties when highly skilled Russian got 20 minutes. There are no bigger whiners than Canadians when it comes down to hockey, these guys whined and whined in Salt Lake and it gave them the result so they decided to keep whining.

Jan Lasak got tripped behind the net when he was stopping a dump in. canadian player (niedermayer I reckon), but not sure, put his stick between Lasak's shin and pad from behind when he was skating by and turned Lasak on his back. Canada then scored when Lasak was lying behind the net. Semi finals in Prague.

The trip itself wasn't so foul, it was the fact that ref Looker didn't blow the whistle.

Canada went on to finals, Slovaks lost in the bronze game vs USA.

Don't worry, I'll be making my move soon. The world's a sucker for fresh maple syrup.

And there are no greater whiners than the Russians...in everything ;)

I have no doubt, it was some PR guy for the Team or something that did this, not the players. I have no doubt the players could have cared less.

Bring Tims coffee as well and I'll call you the Fuhrer anyday :D

Well if whining has been the reason that Canada currently holds EVERY major world championship.....fine. I thought it was because they were good...no? Whining? Cool. Gotcha.

So that was the buzz in my ears all tournament. C'mon, I taught my daughter when they'd get beat in soccer, which was quite often, if you tried your best, you lose, shake hands, go home [after stopping at Dairy Queen] and try and win next time. She learned, why can't you. The Russians lost a game, were they a better team, I don't know, it was one game. Why save this up and cry now ? Do you ever just lose without someone to blame ?

So Italy could win the gold if they started whining more?

There's a joke in there if you combine Italy and w[h]ine but I'm not bright enough to make it.

So what happends? Yes all Swedish practises are moved to the reserve arena with no dressingrooms. Canada got all their practises in the main arena and also as the only team got their own dressing room which they'll keep for the rest of the tournament.

Haha.. awesome.

I seriously think you may need counselling. You're hanging on to this stuff and it's eating you up inside. You need to move on with your life and stop letting these things rule you :biglaugh:

I'll start taking Euro complaints seriously the day the IIHF stops holding the "world championships" during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Yeah, I bet the NHL players would be very excited to play World Championships in mid june.

That someone like yourself thinks that way is not a suprise, but when the leader of your hockeyfederation thinks that way its just emabrassing for the sport and Canada. Especially in the Olympics.

I don't think that these Swedish professionals have a problem with this, it is overblown by the media. They have to sit with the gear on in the bus? Nooo! We are going to lose!11!

WOW
Team Cananda is coming off like a bunch of whiners. :shakehead

Well, I can't blame Canada to have tried that; it's true that their situation was annoying. But I do blame the Olympic Hockey organization to give them all they wanted. Why not just simply cut it in half?

Canada's dominance is resented. No news there. We are the Brazil of the hockey world.

**** Brazil! Deutschland Ãœber Alles! :)

Come on, that's hard to hear from a fellow German-Canadian!!

Funny thing is that the over the years Canadian media accuses Europeans for being dirty (stickwork etc) when usually the dirtiest stickwork is usually done by Canadians themselves (this never gets mentioned over there). Point in case: Canada in WC'97, Owen Nolan, Cory Cross and Keith Primeau pulled 3 of the dirtiest moves in recent WC history. No mention in Canadian papers.
LOL, you had to go back NINE YEARS for an example?
Should I therefore use Ulf Sterner as an example of classy European player?
