The Ottawa Senators are pleased to announce that the club has acquired Tomas Fleischmann, Ryan Spooner, Johnny Boychuk and Scott Mayfield in separate deals.

Next, the Senators brought in forward Tomas Fleischmann from the Florida Panthers in return for defenseman Jared Cowen.

"A one-for-one swap, we felt that opportunity to add another strong top six forward to the team was too good to pass up. (Bobby) Ryan has meshed better with Turris, and now we hope that Fleischmann will compliment Spezza and Michalek on the first line. We wish Jared all the best with a fresh start in Florida."

:panthers ACQUIRE COWEN

The Florida Panthers have traded forward Tomas Fleischmann to the Ottawa Senators for defenseman Jared Cowen.

"Fleischmann is a great player in his prime but we had to place him on the market considering the fact that we are going for a rebuild. We are thrilled to add a young defenseman with high potential like Jared Cowen. He will be an important part of our core going forward."

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired F Damien Brunner and D Mark Fayne from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for prospects Nikita Kucherov and Vladimir Namestnikov, as well as Keith Aulie.

We feel this trade really solidifies our line up and makes us a stronger team now than ever before. We really like Damien, and he'll have a familiar face to play with in Valteri Filppula. Mark Fayne will be a great fit with Eric Brewer.

The Lightning have sent Brett Connolly to the AHL.

The third and final deal was completed with the New York Islanders, with the club sending goaltender Craig Anderson to the Isles in exchange for Scott Mayfield and a conditional 2015 draft pick (NYI 3rd, becomes a 2nd if the Isles win a playoff series."

The :isles confirm all three of these deals. With Klesla, Coburn, and Anderson, we addressed key needs in our lineup.

Amnesty buyouts can be used in the off-season, not during the season
"Each team has the option of sending ONE player on a 1-way contract to the minors or Europe due to cap reasons."

I probably used the wrong wording, but regardless, I should be able to send Ruutu to the minors/Europe without incurring the cap hit.

You can't send him to the minors since he has a NMC (even if you could you would only free up 900k in cap space), and I highly doubt IR would allow you to send him to Europe.
We try to keep these games somewhat realistic.

A NMC prevents a player from being sent anywhere without their consent. Regardless, even if you could send him to the minors/Europe only the first $900K would come off the cap, the rest would remain. Unless you can find a team to take him that he'd conceivably waive to, he's yours.
