Got you back not your wallet
Waive Marc-Andre Fleury with the intention to use a compliance buyout on him.
I forget the rules for buyouts with guys with NMC's, but either way, he's being bought out.
Jaden Schwartz-Sidney Crosby-Chris Stewart
Chris Kunitz-Evgeni Malkin-James Neal
Pascal Dupuis-Michal Handzus-Beau Bennett
Kyle Clifford-Joe Vitale-Craig Adams
Rob Scuderi-Kris Letang
Paul Martin-__________
Olli Maatta-Robert Bortuzzo
Deryk Engelland
Henrik Lundqvist
Justin Peters
Breakdown:
Schwartz-Crosby-Stewart is a line with speed and jam, just the way Sid's lines have been constructed throughout the years, only now he has more skill to work with.
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal is the line that was together most of the year last time Geno won the Art Ross. Also, Neal scored 40 goals that year. We expect big things from this line.
Dupuis-Handzus-Bennett is going to be an excellent shutdown line that has potential to put up solid secondary scoring totals. Handzus is a great pickup for us that will provide us with size we were sorely lacking and this line will be a ***** to play against.
Clifford-Vitale-Adams is a line that will pester you and wear you down. We are happy with the potential for a few goals from this line, as well as great energy.
Scuderi-Letang Letang is one of the best offensive D-men in the world and Scuderi is a great stay-at-home defenseman. These players complement each other perfectly, and both can eat up huge minutes.
Martin-? This will be our shutdown line. We are still working on a replacement for Orpik, but we have $3.5m in cap space to work with. martin has been a part of our shutdown pair for 2 years now and has done an outstanding job.
Maata-Bortuzzo Maatta could be playing in the top 4 on most NHL teams right now. With another year of experience and chemistry between he and Bortuzzo, we expect this to be among one of the best bottom pairs in the league. Bortuzzo is learning to play with a mean streak and provides muscle on our back end. Also isn't afraid to stand up for his teammates.
Engelland will be both our 13 forward and 7th D-man. He's learned to play forward this year and has looked surprisingly adequate when he's been in there. He hits and has scored 2 gritty goals already as a forward. He's a great utility guy.
Lundqvist is among the elite as far as goaltenders go in the NHL. Goalie is no longer a question mark for this team. Nothing else needs to be said.
Peters is a backup. Whatever
The influence that Jacques Martin has had on this team and Bylsma's system will ultimately pay off for this team. Finally blending defensive zone responsibility with a strong forechecking, puck possession game is the perfect system in this NHL. With a superstar forward group, a very strong D corps, and elite starting goaltender, there is no reason that this team should not be the favorite to win the Cup.
Sorry for the long write up, but I'm very pleased with this team.
With that being said, I'm willing to give up significant assets for a guy that fits the bill as Martin's partner.
So gents.... Game 3?
