News/Notes
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs fell to their Ontario rivals, the Ottawa Senators, 6-3 which ended the Leafs 3 game winning streak with goals coming from JVR, Nylander and Matthews.
  • The Leafs are the highest scoring team in the NHL currently with a total of 37 goals scored, yet are ranked 24th in goals against. The Leafs will not only be playing the team who is first in goals against, they will be going up against the hottest team to start the 2017-18 season
  • In what was expected to be a low scoring affair, the Kings-Blue Jackets game was the exact opposite, with a total of 5 goals scored in the first period alone. The Kings would end up winning the game 6-4.
  • In the previous game against the Habs, both Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar were held off the score sheet. Against Columbus, however, both Brown and Kopitar found themselves driving the Kings play with a combined total of 7 points between the 2 players and each a +5.
  • While Alex Iafallo has yet to record his first NHL goal, Iafallo continues to impress registering 2 more assists in the win against Columbus.
  • A familiar face in a different place is Patrick Marleau. The long time Sharks player is enjoying life in Toronto as he has 5 points in 8 games after signing a 3 year deal back in July.

Great gst Loving the look of it. It looks like dowd is in for Auger and MacDermid is in for Fattenberg. This is our big test and will go a long way to shut Milbury and others mouths. We can do this Lets rock this team WIN FOR CLIFFY GABORIK AND CARTER GO KINGS GO.

Some of those previews for the game from Canada, so much has happened with the Kings since their last game in Toronto, I forgot they beat them 7-0. Read it, and I said, ohhhhh yeah, I sort of remember that now. Sounds like the Leafs are fully aware though.

King, Purcell, Setoguchi, Gravel, Greene, and Budaj played in that game. Nolan and Gilbert were scratches. Zatkoff was the backup. That's about 40% of the roster that's different today.

No Quick last year. No Carter or Clifford today. No Gaborik either time.

I figured McD is in..

Someone needs to tell Komarov to lay off DD

In like in, or in the Stevens way so far? MacDermid barely played on home ice when he was in. On the road, against a fast team? He may not leave the bench.

Just read on the leafs board we are 0 for 8 on the pp on the road. This is the game we need to change that Go King go

Just thought i'd ask if maybe special teams and face off stats could be included in the gtt in the future?

For the leafs, Roman Polak will draw into his 1st game tonight. He's playing with Borgman,
Carrick a healthy scratch.

You have permission to call the bottom pairing Borglack if you score more than 3 goals against them.

Good luck tonight!

Our spotty defensive play is going to catch up to us eventually. I think this could be the game where it happens.

Should be very entertaining though.

Really need Toff and Pears to pick it up, I feel like the lack of a top 2 center will show soon.

Bump up Kempe to the second line, give them offensive zone starts, have Lewis and Shore play the hard minutes.

I take back what I said in the offseason about Nick Shore. He’s a pretty good player.

the Leafs D has been suspect all season so tonight could be another high scoring game by the looks of it. either way, GKG!!!!

This will be the toughest challenge yet.

I hate the early East coast games. It'll be the third period by the time I get home.

That's a good idea. I'll look around to see if I can find those kind of stats for the upcoming games.

Thanks Kingsboy!

What happened to Brooks Laich? Dowd is listed twice.

Yeah when I created the thread Daily faceoff hadn't updated our lines from Rosen's report yesterday so I just went with what we ran last game. I'm going to see if I can adjust it now.

So looks like Fantenberg is not out for Macdermid he will be in the lineup and I think that's good. The only lineup change we will see is Dowd in for Auger

Lol, Polak is in their line up. Our game to lose. We always expose Polak badly.

You're right. So spotty it's almost like we aren't 2nd in GA.

Are you always this negative?

He's not wrong though. Defense in front of the net needs work.

Don't fully disagree but there's gonna be a price to pay for opening it up. Anyone (not you in particular) expecting our D to hold up like last few years is going to be disappointed.

We've had a pretty unsustainable PDO so far and we're playing the top offense in the leagues o something's gotta give at some point, would just figure it would be vs. TO  But your'e right that our net front could use some focus.
