Honestly, can't really complain about this loss. There were a few mistakes, but overall they played pretty well and put in a good effort. Good enough to win on most nights, I think. Puck just wasn't going in. PP is still a work in progress, but they didn't really get many opportunities with the man up.

Next game against NYR is going to be a tough one.

This was all @twabby fault 😁

Don't worry, I won't be going back. Way to much noise, liveliness, and spirit for my liking.

Anyways:

Trevor van Riemsdyk gets his first shiny twabby's Game Puck of the year with a 77% xG share in almost 20 minutes of 5v5 play. I remember when he rode the pine so that Zdeno Chara could play/lumber around the ice.

Honorable mentions go to Rasmus Sandin and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

I didn't think Chuckie had a good game honestly.
Agree. I though he should have had that third one for sure.

I'm really liking what I see from Dubois, but he's just got no puck luck right now. Definitely time to see Milano back and maybe swap Protas and Mango again. I'd say swap CMM and Jimi, but I hate to mess with that line. Still, it might be time. Let Lappy play some offense without the responsibilities of center for a while and maybe get some confidence back.

I'd like to see if CMM and Protas can reconnect their chemistry from last year and get that third line going. It would be undeservably but maybe put Hendrix on the opposite wing of Ovie and Mangiapane with Dubois/Wilson?

Protas could certainly move into the 3rd liner position (his speed looks great this year). I honestly liked Mags there on the line with AO/Strome.

Was happy with 1st 40, deserved 1 or 2g's for the effort, credit to Vasi

Lapi's giveaway to cause the 3-0 goal was pretty bad and killed the chances (tho' dwindling) of a comeback

Pretty obvious that Lapi/Vrana/McIlrath's TOI tell the story of what Carbs sees out there (or fears to see with sheltering)

rest up/shake it off/get ready for a busy Tu/Th/Sa/Su coming up

They played well enough. Not much complaint there. Wish they would have come out with at least a point.

Top 2 priorities need to be PP and 3rd line. You need a somewhat functional 3rd line. As it stands they bring nothing to the table. Lappy is a liability and probably needs to be sent down to get his confidence up. Still not sure if Vrana deserves a spot, don't think he brings much over someone like Miro.

CMM keeps impressing me and I think he is our best overall forward. Some of the passes me made last night were Nicky-esque.

Vasy was excellent but TB team D was exceptional.

Is HL waiver exempt?

Either way, at this point I 100% think he needs to be sat down and put CMM at 3C. Run Vrana - CMM - Mangi, bring up Miro and try him at 2LW. If you feel really frisky, swap Mangi and Protas.

But that 3C being so poor is killing that line.

Still waiver exempt, yes. If they don't want to break up the second line I think Protas would also do just fine at 3C. They'll give Lapierre more time to work his way out of it you'd think but him and Vrana together is just too soft. They have no chemistry nor any sort of formidable transitional play. Mangiapane isn't that big either so it's just a bunch of leftovers that don't fit their style much.

They have bigger issues but definitely problematic seven games in for Lapierre to have done nothing at all offensively. It's a long year and the staff will know when based on internal off-ice stuff but I'm not sure I'd give him more than a few more games. If he's still sporting donuts after the CBJ game it ought to be time for a reset.
