considering Marc Savard's life got pretty ****ed up, not just his ability to play hockey, I don't blame anyone (myself included) for not really wanting to forgive Cooke haha

on a side note, almost 30 min a game for Suter? wow

Weirdly enough, this is the biggest test we've had in a few weeks. Don't sleep on this Wild team, they're really good at times.

It was crazy....they were missing Parise, Koivu, and Harding for most of January and during that span, behind a rookie goaltender, they went 11-6 during that time with big wins against LA & Anaheim out west and Chicago at home. That stretch pretty much kept them in the race and has them looking pretty solid on earning first WC spot in the West. Kuemper made a record 15 starts in a row and went 12-3-2 during that time.

Adding Moulson allowed them to put Heatley on the 4th line. Granted, All-star is a long way removed from 50 in 07, but he's still got the ability to score and the Wild went from a team that had all sorts of problems scoring to one that's got good scoring depth.

D is a little thin outside of the big first pairing of Suter/Spurgeon....but the real story's been Kuemper. He was essentially the fourth goaltender on the depth chart behind Harding, Backstrom and Gustafsson, and he's been nothing short of amazing.

I expect Boston to win as everything is firing on all cylinders with the Bruins as of late....but yeah, Minnesota's a team that can easily capitalize if the Bruins have one of those games where they decide to sleepwalk.

Anyhow, there's your Wild minute.

Dude's been a beast. He's had over 30 minutes in 33 games this season and has gotten better as the season's gone along. Ridiculous.

As far as the Cooke stuff, I guess my issue is just the amount of attention it generates. I don't think it's a matter of forgiveness....it's just that it seems to become THE dominant storyline when there's so many other good things that can come from this matchup (and perhaps I view it that way because of my attachment to the Minnesota team, I don't know), but I felt that way with the Pittsburgh matchups too.

It bums me out. Minnesota's got such a rich hockey tradition with a Pro Team that's on the rise making a lot of smart moves (and very un-Minnesota-like moves; Minnesota Mediocrity is a common motto, so to see a Minnesota pro sports team swing big twice with ZP and Suter was UNHEARD of).

Plus, seriously...Minnesota has owned the Bruins since coming into the league. Straight owned.

I guess I'm one that would rather discuss those storylines than the Cooke stuff. People gonna do what they want to do, but dwelling on the negative for so long just seems a fruitless endeavor to me.

It's like, would you rather look forward to a tasty rootbeer float or having somebody slowly pull out your fingernails?

Different strokes, I suppose.

Aye. Suter has been an absolute workhorse since signing with the Wild.

Still say he should have won the Norris last year. He played BIG minutes and played most of the year with a rookie partner (at that time anyway).

People need to let all this Matt Cooke crap go. It's been 4 years already.

Is that so?

Well, that was this month. That's a talented young player who has dedicated his life to hockey w/ his whole career ahead of him, whose earned a shot at playing in the NHL. Just like Marc Savard. Now what if that were Chris Kelly?

Last time it was only our #1 center and best offensive player carted off the ice on a stretcher. No biggie. Btw, if the Bruins hadn't been built like a brick ****house as far as the center position, it could arguably have cost us a championship. It's an astonishing feat that we lost a player of that importance, and still won a championship, hardly ever discussed.

Old enough to remember exactly the same type of hit taking out the last 50 goal man to play in Boston to date. The second it happened also marked the moment we were no longer real contenders. For a/b 20 years. That hit was over 20 years ago. And, I still hope the guy that did it gets the herpes, and ****in dies.

Hockey is a tough sport, a contact sport, it's inevitable there are sometime injuries. It's something else entirely when it's intentional. And, that's exactly what Matt Cooke does. He's done it repeatedly throughout his career. Indisputable.

Therefore Matt Cooke has long way to go to get off my **** list. You're just a better person than I, what can I say. The NHL will be better place the second that condom escapee is history.

I'm sorry, but Matt Cooke is a dangerous player who should have been tossed out of league years ago for his deliberate disregard for other players safety.
There's no excuse for this garbage in the NHL.

Oddly enough James Neal's knee on Marchand was probably even dirtier, just didn't have the same result

My boss changed our schedules Friday night with no advance warning and suddenly I'm working Monday night instead of going to the game. Pissed doesn't even begin to describe how I'm feeling. At least I was able to sell my tickets.

This totally stinks.

Not only do you have to work you have to miss the game, but then hockey doesn't pay the bills.

Glad my job is always a day job-can't always watch the hockey games but work isn't the conflict.

I am curious to see how the Bruins play against this version of the Wild. I like Parise and Suter but man they have Cooke who I hate more than any other player.

Never said forgive him but there are far more storylines with this matchup than dwelling on the past.

It's old and nothing good ever comes of the discussion.

great game thread....mother's birthday is St Patty's Day- hence named Patricia; and first one without her. Appropriate there is a game. I don't think she missed a handful of home games from 1948 to 1982. Woman worked out 5 days a week and even in her 80's. My daughter loved decorating the house with the nearly hundred of cards that flowed in every year. Glad she has the game to go to tomorrow they were incredibly close.

thinkin of you xxo

Honestly, it's hard to not talk about Matt Cooke. He says he'll clean up his act, never truly does, and continues to do stupid **** (such as that kneeing the other day) that will get him talked about. But I think as a Bruins fan, you'll never completely forget and/or move on from the Savard hit.

Anyway, should be a good game. Loving the theme for the GDT!

Maybe it's me but I always know when he is out there and I've noticed his presence seems to get the best out of Boston. The Bruins core is still very aware of this guy. He is catching a huge break in that Seidenberg and McQuaid are out- those two made an extra effort to put the body on him and held little back. Guys a POS and only reason this 'he's changed' stuff is talked about is because he's afraid he'll be out of the league or get a major suspension next time

It`s Miller time tonight:yo:

I`ve accepted that Cooke is a POS, I have also accepted that he will get his, and when it happens, at the hands of whomever on whatever team, it will be an absolute doozie;)

Very well said. I hardly obsess about him - I try not to think about him at all - but it'll be a good day for hockey when that POS is out of the league.

Best result tonight is a dominant win. Go B's!

I'll let it go when my favorite player skates again.

Time doesn't make him less of a ****ing *******.

And also, less than a year ago...

So yeah...**** him. It's embarassing that this guy keeps being rewarded with more NHL contracts. It's not just about Savard, it's completely naive to believe that Marc Savard was an isolated incident, it's that this guy is a sociopath who's sole mission in the NHL has been to injure. He's been a danger to the league ever since he stepped in.

Agreed, only difference is the speed...that happened at a much slower pace.

Well, that and Marchand doesn't have much between the ears

Fantastic GDT! :handclap: Takes me back to the days of Cesare Maniago and Bill Goldsworthy.

#37 should wear Cleary on the back of his jersey tonight.
