The defence is honestly what’s the most exciting part about this team moving forward, it’s basically done if Quinn decides to stay. This might make me a bad fan but I really don't want them to make the playoffs only because it would be so demoralizing. They are obviously not good enough. It was painful enough last year when they actually did have an amazing season. We need to build a new core around Hughes. I'd be open to trading Pettersson but I figure he's going nowhere so just have to hope that he's able to gel with a new core.
The good news is the D is genuinely improving and looking very good now and in the future. If Lankinen is the real deal going forward then they have a good backend to build from.
It comes down to some key players losing their game (Pettersson, Boeser) and losing Miller.I dunno, how is it that much different? Miller has been good since being traded in terms of pure numbers but he sure wasn't doing that for us. Not surprising that he's basically having a honeymoon period, it fits his history.
It basically comes down to Chytil being out instead of Miller.
I didn't say it would be a short honeymoon period. Who knows? He gets to play with more skilled guys in general on the Rangers too so there's that. But he's also a lot older. All I'm saying is that we weren't getting the Miller of years past on the Canucks anyhow. So say what you will about Chytil and how both would produce head-to-head in ideal circumstances, what we're getting is roughly equivalent IMO.It comes down to some key players losing their game (Pettersson, Boeser) and losing Miller.
Also I don't know if the bolded is really fair. He had far more than a honeymoon period with us. I have no doubt he'll be full value for the Rangers going forward. For a few seasons anyway.
what did he say?Hughes throwing top 6/4 under the bus if Im watching right
Something along the lines of he has his ideas on the problems but will keep them to himself. Then immediately says we need to be better as a top 5 and top 10 unitwhat did he say?
Ill stick to it as always on TV. But for many many years I have no idea how or why people pay to see this in person

Miller f..ked us to get to hang with his buddy that's obvious he also destroyed the lockeroom he can break his ankles and retire he's a f.mkI didn't say it would be a short honeymoon period. Also, he has tended to wear out his welcome on teams from past reports. Not sure how that isn't fair as it seems well established.
Well yeah, if 3 seasons or whatever is a honeymoon, then sure. It really depends on your opinion of him. Up until whatever happened to this group it seemed like he had turned a corner with us and wouldn't be a "honeymoon" kind of player anymore. But perhaps whatever happened with him was inevitable too. We were one top six short to being a great team.
We traded JT Miller, who’s a superstar, and we replaced him with a pretty decent player, improved our defence.
But the problem is we lost Brock in that deal as well because without JT Miller, he’s been completely invisible.
It’s almost like we lost two top six forwards in one trade.
And now with chytil hurt, you can really see the depth being absolutely killed right now up the middle
Miller f..ked us to get to hang with his buddy that's obvious he also destroyed the lockeroom he can break his ankles and retire he's a f.mk
Especially when they traded another center (Horvat) to appease him
Then absolutely franking us with 1 destination to go to for a shit return

For some reason very simple solutions to our PP might as well be as difficult as curing cancer for this teamPoor performance for pretty much the entire game. Once we got like halfway through it was clear the tank was running out and the Canucks had little left.
I think one of biggest reasons this team struggles offensively or just generating shots in general is how awful we can be when it comes to passing and transition. Countless times each game we have instances where a D-man has the puck with no pressure on him yet his pass is either off the mark, or bobbled by the receiver, or just passed into an area that is clogged/being defended.
It was particularly jarring in this game how awful our passing was both in transition and in the offensive zone. There are so few whipped passes on the tape or passes that hit a guy in stride. It's simply the mark of an unskilled team. We look slow not just because we skate slow but because we rarely let the puck do the work for us.
A lot of the blame for this game also goes to whoever handles the PP. Whoever came up with this idiotic formation needs to get their head examined. Petey on the left point in the Miller spot where is he not a shooting threat, Garland on the left flank where he is also not a shooting threat, and them two along with Hughes just passing the puck amongst themselves somehow looking like they never have time and space despite having the man advantage.
Just get Lekk on the left wall and Petey on the right wall and feed them one timers with Boeser and Debrusk in front screening/tipping/rebounding like how complicated is it?
what a disaster of a year
Letting Zadorov go Miller Demko and then Boeser and Pettersson combined 33 goals and now Chytil concussed
Its actually amazing we are even in this chase right now
Our offence is pathetic
