The defence is honestly what’s the most exciting part about this team moving forward, it’s basically done if Quinn decides to stay.
And it’s done for a while, it’s more than good enough to win, especially with willander coming as well.
I would be OK with lanky as our number one also, as long as a deco trade means we free up enough cap space to get an elite winger, and not just some mid guy.
Like I said, it’s gonna be a really fascinating off-season, we have the cap space but so do 28 other teams, I think the numbers are going to be astronomical
It comes down to some key players losing their game (Pettersson, Boeser) and losing Miller.
Also I don't know if the bolded is really fair. He had far more than a honeymoon period with us. I have no doubt he'll be full value for the Rangers going forward. For a few seasons anyway.
Down the stretch in the NHL, the 'contenders' separate themselves from the 'pretenders'. And right now, the Canucks are really in the latter category.
Home ice losses to Montreal and now Utah simply can't happen if your playoff aspirations are 'real' as opposed to just 'hoping'.

I didn't say it would be a short honeymoon period. Who knows? He gets to play with more skilled guys in general on the Rangers too so there's that. But he's also a lot older. All I'm saying is that we weren't getting the Miller of years past on the Canucks anyhow. So say what you will about Chytil and how both would produce head-to-head in ideal circumstances, what we're getting is roughly equivalent IMO.
Also, he has tended to wear out his welcome on teams from past reports. Not sure how that isn't fair as it seems well established.
Something along the lines of he has his ideas on the problems but will keep them to himself. Then immediately says we need to be better as a top 5 and top 10 unit
I would way rather watch at home with affordable beers and food, spliffs and Jägermeister whenever wanted. No lineup for the bathroom. My computer at hand, play by play and commentary plus comfortable seating. I can't imagine why people would even want to go regularly. I go for the novelty every other season or so but very little desire for a $400 night that pales in comparison to the home experience where the view is far better anyway.

I thought with the 2 day break before a back-to-back at home would have helped a bit, but they played like a team playing 4 games in 5 nights. Bad passes, lead feet, etc. Need to regroup big time to beat Winnipeg.

Well yeah, if 3 seasons or whatever is a honeymoon, then sure. It really depends on your opinion of him. Up until whatever happened to this group it seemed like he had turned a corner with us and wouldn't be a "honeymoon" kind of player anymore. But perhaps whatever happened with him was inevitable too. I don't know.
Brock was a shell of himself well before we traded Miller. That concussion totally changed the outlook of his year. He's been terrible since
Poor performance for pretty much the entire game. Once we got like halfway through it was clear the tank was running out and the Canucks had little left.
I think one of biggest reasons this team struggles offensively or just generating shots in general is how awful we can be when it comes to passing and transition. Countless times each game we have instances where a D-man has the puck with no pressure on him yet his pass is either off the mark, or bobbled by the receiver, or just passed into an area that is clogged/being defended.
It was particularly jarring in this game how awful our passing was both in transition and in the offensive zone. There are so few whipped passes on the tape or passes that hit a guy in stride. It's simply the mark of an unskilled team. We look slow not just because we skate slow but because we rarely let the puck do the work for us.
A lot of the blame for this game also goes to whoever handles the PP. Whoever came up with this idiotic formation needs to get their head examined. Petey on the left point in the Miller spot where is he not a shooting threat, Garland on the left flank where he is also not a shooting threat, and them two along with Hughes just passing the puck amongst themselves somehow looking like they never have time and space despite having the man advantage.
Just get Lekk on the left wall and Petey on the right wall and feed them one timers with Boeser and Debrusk in front screening/tipping/rebounding like how complicated is it?

First I've heard of Horvat being traded to appease Miller lol
Horvat was traded because he wanted to be overpaid / the team decided to divert resources to defense.
Hockey is entertaining in big part because it's challenging. Part of that is the tough schedule. Sure they are hard on some players cardio vascular wise, not impossible though. The whole guaranteed loss thing is a little whiny and silly imo. People love to complain about everything and anything though. If they're so horrible the league should do away with them then I suppose.
We did kind of suck tonight, and overall we're mediocre.
For some reason very simple solutions to our PP might as well be as difficult as curing cancer for this team

Could you imagine if Lindholm chose to sign with us? As bad as this year has been it would have been much more bleak had he chosen us to sign with.

on pace for 54goals and 148pts
Its actually incredible to lose 57 goals from the top trio and still be in a playoff race
