Post-Game Talk: GM 65 | Canucks def. Flames | 4-3 (SO) (Suter, DeBrusk, EP40 - Garland SO winner) | Don’t Touch Our Captain!

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.

I dunno what changed with Petey but his entire demeanor especially during post games has changed for the better. Looks like he's enjoying the game again. You love to see it.

I loved him calling plays/changes on the ice last game. Shows he's taking initiative, really wants to make a difference.

Great play tonight on his goal. Its a seemingly simple play but alot of guys would just sling it back, him delaying & faking toward the center creates the space for Mancini to get that shot off.

And that S/O goal was a thing of beauty, goes in on every goalie in the league. Love to see it.

It would be a mistake to give up on him imo. Your not getting better in return & 11.6 will only get better as time goes on.

Can you imagine what Tocchet and Foote say about some of their players behind closed doors lol. It must make them sick.

I'd be shocked if we didn't add someone who brings that element this off-season. I think they underestimated how much a loss Zad would be in that department.

The big mistake was them not signing Zadorov earlier before the playoffs. I guess he hadn't fully adjusted but.. that was the time to get him on a reasonable deal.

I love the elements he brings as much as anyone, but he's not a reliable high-min player. His current contract is a boat anchor. MP is a better player imo.

I'm surprised there isn't more blatant anger in here for the Zary hit.

That should've been 5 and a game, and it should be a 5 game suspension. One of the dirtiest hits I've seen a Canucks player take in awhile (worse than the headshot Boeser took earlier this year), up there with Keith's elbow on Daniel and Marchand's low bridge on Salo.

If Mancini can top out as a top 4 guy then that’s a pretty decent haul for Miller.

2 top4D and a 3C.
I still hate that we traded Miller and probably always will. But I feel like Chytil has another gear to tap into. I dunno what our plans are for our centre position but a full offseason for Chytil going into as a 2C could be big. He's entering his prime as we speak.

He'll get 2 games and that will be that. Canucks always get the short end of the stick.

Ultimately when you have Quinn Hughes on your roster, you can't give up. He's as special as it gets.

If he leaves, then they are basically forced into a rebuild. So those who desire a perpetual rebuild might get their wish...

But if you have him you'll always have a chance with the right moves. Hes 25 & already a1st ballot HHOFer tommorrow. Even 1st overall picks don't guarantee a player at this level.

Interesting to listen to Tocchet on the post-game presser. Says Hughes hasn't even practiced; was thrown into tonight's game and played more than 29 minutes. And he's probably still less than 100 percent.

Best player in franchise history--and I don't think there's really much of a debate.

Whether it was injury related, confidence, something else or a combo of things, he looks like the old EP and that's huge going forward. Now throw a clearly frazzled Brock (who can blame the way he's been treated) and let EP rekindle 2 3rds of the lotto line that was so good in 2019.
Throw in a bubble Demko for the rest of the season and let the chips land where they may.

Also they better keep Hoglander in the top six! He's been a whipping boy all year but for a month now he's been damn good and I could see him next to EP doing some damage.

Lastly keep Lekks in the lineup (ideally next to Chytil and Debrusk) and call up Raty.

Its Hughes, Henrik, Bure in contention.

Hughes is 25 & already top 3, Henrik didn't take off until 25 & beyond.

I think Bure will always hold a special place here especially for long-time fans, but if Hughes re-signs & plays his entire prime here I have to imagine he'll go down as #1.
