Post-Game Talk: GM 65 | Canucks def. Flames | 4-3 (SO) (Suter, DeBrusk, EP40 - Garland SO winner) | Don’t Touch Our Captain!

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
I’d also send Aman down and call up Raty/Sasson. Aman was fighting it all game and is nowhere near good enough in his minutes.

I dunno what changed with Petey but his entire demeanor especially during post games has changed for the better. Looks like he's enjoying the game again. You love to see it.

I hope more than anything that he's learning to get through the down times better, because they will happen again at some point.

Getting into the habbit of battling through it & being resilient will not only do him wonders for the rest of the contract, but his life too.

Pulled it out with some gutsy and determined effort in the third. Really should have scored in OT which they totally controlled.

Good

Pettersson - by far the best aspect of this game was the way he is starting to look like he can fullfill the promise Canuck fans have had for him. After months of so-so to out-right poor play, he is starting to look like he's back to being an important factor. Don't want to celebrate too soo, but at least getting some hope back.

Hughes - came out in the third and turned the game around. This team needs to understand that he is the "crown jewels" of the franchise and need to make sure he gets some protection.

Lankanin - both goalies were very good. Loosely played game with lots of net scrambles. Second game in two nights and Lakanin came through.

Hoglander - hard-nosed effort. No one was going to the net harder. Earning chances and creating ozone possession. Hopeful will start putting the puck away. In spite of a some times rough season, he is keeping at it.

Garland - seemed to be fading some lately but was a juggernaut in the last two periods. Left no doubt with his shoot out goal. Beat Wolf cleanly.

Hronek - Played near half the game. Given the load, he is playing top end hockey.

Others

Boeser - getting the most game time of any of the forwards and doing the least. I don't get it!

Mancini - thought it was his best effort. Starting to get more in the play. Minute time getting up there.

Aman - simply must play with more grit. Canucks likely need a bottom line player with some push back rather than another soft one like Aman who really can't produce any offense.

You hope that EP2 is ok and hope the League reviews the hit.

Apropos of nothing I had a biopsy done on a red spot on my back that's persisted for a couple years now.

They gave me 3 stitches and the bandage is slipping off and the liquid underneath is especially slippery. Should I grow a set and see if I popped a stitch watching tonight?

I thigh-slapped pretty hard in the shootout.

Pettersson with 3 goals in 4 games. If he's back, they'll make it in.

Mancini was been a great addition. You can see why the Rangers fans weren't happy he was moved

If Mancini, like Junior, can keep progressing it would mean Willander can be slow played. Roll with two defencemen in the top-7 on ELCs for next season. Would be a massive development.

Hope you are right. We have a really tough schedule and even with EP back it may not be enough.

this is my hope too. management will be very tempted to infill with a juulsen though. very much hoping mancini talks them out of it the last few games.

Lol at wanting to ever trade EP40. One of the games most fun players to watch. Silky smooth. If he’s fully back this team can upset the Jets.

Quinn Hughes isn’t human. Imagine being a wings fan watching Hughes and Hronek right now.

Hoglander deserves some love. Even if the points haven’t always been there he has played excellent hockey the last 3-4 months. EP40 - Hoglander work great together.

Mancini played great. 6’3 230 smooth skating dman who has an offensive touch.

Hughes - Willander
D-Petey - Hronek
M-Petey - Mancini
Mynio/Kudryatsev

Will be a nasty defence corps in 1-2 years.

Not trading Boeser is looking brutal. Useless and checked out.

Calgary is a mid aging team with a young Franchise goalie. Just a bizarre position for them. Not getting a top 10 pick is going to be brutal for there future.

I would expect they'd have two ELCs on the blueline next year regardless. D-Petey obviously being one, the other we'll see, but a few guys will be in competition. Hopefully someone can move Myers down to the third pair.

it’s really hard to believe that f***ing rick tocchet’s team wouldn’t murder zary and especially lombard. if you even looked at mario lemieux, he would kill your whole family.

for good measure, here’s tocchet with a broken jaw fighting kris king, and later going after messier then adam graves

(1:55 messier hiding behind the ref like a ____)

Can you imagine what Tocchet and Foote say about some of their players behind closed doors lol. It must make them sick.

I'd be shocked if we didn't add someone who brings that element this off-season. I think they underestimated how much a loss Zad would be in that department.
