I dunno man, I feel a lot of it's on the players. Everything started imploding because Pettersson became a lemon and then there's the longstanding feud with Miller or whatever Miller's problem was. Maybe I'm letting management off the hook here but they couldn't have foreseen the core of this team suddenly being duds (Hughes notwithstanding of course).

They were doing great up until the all star game. Then it just fell apart. Management understandably figured they'd all get their shit together and stayed the course. The deadline is another story. That's on management, no doubt.
