Why haven’t Toffoli and Pearson been split for good?

This is like Carter/Richards in 2014 where they are being forced to play together even though the results have been horrifying.

Neither guy is as bad as Richards or as good as Carter but there is just zero chemistry with those two.

I really do wonder how things look when Carter and Lewis return. Do we have a line with instant chemistry somewhere? Do Lewis and Rieder become BFFs? Are Pearson-Carter-Toffoli suddenly awful together? Chemistry is such a big thing in hockey, look what Andreoff-mitchell-Brodz were doing for a while there.

Toffoli looks as bad as he has ever looked in the NHL.

This is a guy who always had skating issues but now it looks like he has gotten even slower. This is a player who is useless if he isn’t scoring and he hasn’t been a consistent threat for awhile now.

They haven't been together for a while now I think. 4-5 games probably.

Collision with Wingels. He has hardly moved on the ice since. Rarely doing anything but hanging in the slot. Definitely hardly joining the rush or chasing pucks in the corner. Notice how much more Forbort is has to skate for him.

I'm sure getting knocked to the ice hard tonight didn't help either.

Well, I'm glad one game can set the tone for the whole season for you then.

Dallas played 30 minutes across town. The Kings just crossed thousands of miles, country borders, and time zones.

It's not an 'excuse,' but more than one of us saw this coming, they just went flat after a good first and it was clear guys were laboring.

:nopity:I saw plenty of encouraging stuff on this road trip. This game was the aberration, not the example.

This isn't their only trash game. To follow up the best win of the year with this garbage is infuriating.

Also supports my thesis about the win in Dallas being an aberration.

They were physically dominated tonight. Smashed all over the ice by a team they are fighting in the standings.

Not enough push back. So they're pissed in the locker room. Whatever. Let them know the game started at 7:30 and it's too late. Should have been pissed at some point during the game while they were being hit all over the ice.

They can mathematically afford the loss, but not many more of them. They might have 7 regulation losses left, give or take, before there's basically no chance. Depending on what other teams do of course.

2-3-1 at home against the Central, while Central teams are 4-1-1.

5-7-3 at home against the West, making the western teams coming into LA 10-3-2. That's 22 points to 13 for the Kings. In 12 of 15 games a western team has left LA with at least a point, and 67% of the time it's been 2. The only regulation wins are against Minnesota, Arizona, and Edmonton, by a combined score of 16-4, including 3 EN goals. In the other 12 games, where they're 2-7-3, it's a -12. That includes a SO win, and 3 EN goals against.

Toffoli/Pearson's seasons have just tanked. Not a good showing from them down the stretch here.

Still games left to turn it around though.

Pearson at least is contributing without scoring, lots of screens on goals.

Toffoli has been super disappointing since Christmas.

seriously wtf you guys talking about pearson tanking? yeah he's not on the scoresheet but he's been far and away the most consistent player in front of the net

Yeah, Pearson is going to the right spots and doing the right things.

Toffoli...I'm not sure what the f*** he's doing. He's snakebitten too and definitely generates a deadly chance or two a game, but otherwise, he's been arguably our worst forward in terms of all-around performance. You have to keep him in the lineup because he's instant offense, but he's not doing much else positive right now.
