News/Notes:
  • The LA Kings completed their 7 game road trip by defeating the Winnipeg Jets 4-3. They finished 4-3 winning their last 3 games to get a positive record.
  • Rob Blake has been working the phones and completed yet another trade, trading back up Darcy Kuemper to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for forward Tobias Reider and goalie Scott Wedgewood.
  • The Kings have sent down forward Michael Mersch and defenseman Paul Ladue and called up goalie Jack Campbell from Ontario.
  • Jeff Carter practiced with the team for the first time since October, but will not play tonight. New forward Tobias Reider did not skate with any line this morning so its unsure if he'll play tonight. It also looks like Campbell will back up Quick tonight instead of Wedgewood. Trevor Lewis is still day-to-day.

Need points at home against the West. The Kings are 2-2-1, for 5 points, against the Central at home. Central teams are 3-1-1, for 7 points, in LA.

The Kings are 5-2 on the road against the Central, with all games ending in regulation.

0-2-1 against Nashville, so they're a pain.

Not looking forward to seeing Benn school Doughty again (happens every time), but I think we pull this one out, even if it seems like it's a total trap game for us.

Drew absolutely owned Benn last time about as hard as you can own a star player to the tune of 82% CF% (18 attempts for, 4 against) and 10 scoring chances for, 2 against.

This team under Stevens has flipped a lot of the old Kings "trap games" on their head. Their record in back-to-backs is a great example of that. So for that reason, I'm less worried about them getting blown out than I would be if Sutter was still behind the bench.

One of my greatest moments as a hockey fan was meeting Willie O'Ree in person when he played for the San Diego Gulls. As a player in the WHL he had speed to burn.
