GDT: GM#57 LA Kings vs Vancouver Canucks @7:30pm 2/14/19

He has an insanely infectious personality on the ice. Dude looks so pumped every game.

He's been the best veteran leader on this team this season by far. Kind of glaring to see a new guy come in and be so supportive of the youth infusion.

Kopi is master of the half wall. They need to move him off there and put him in front of the goal on the PP and see what happens. Brown is still good in front of there. Maybe put Brown on second unit there. Force Kopi out of his comfort zone and tell him 12 million and 0 PP goals is unacceptable, (his salary this year) you must score at least 1 PP goal every 8 games. Or be off PP.

It's just stagnant. Kopitar has been stuck in that spot for like 8 years. It's nice for zone entry, but these guys have habits that need to be broken. NO ONE is scoring a goal from the half wall. Yeah, no one is forcing him to staple himself to the wall there, he should walk off it sometimes, but like I said, bad habit. It's sort of the same thing as having same guys on the roster for too long, you start 'counting' on certain things from certain people instead of being creative and novel. It's no surprise the new looks come from new blood. Look at the rise and fall of the 70s line for example.

He looks like he is genuinely happy to be in the NHL. He looks like he could be an ideal 2nd line addition for a team needing scoring and a positive presence.

I love his presence on this team. He's such a positive figure.

Completely agree, just watch Kopitar micd up. Emotionless..

just looked that up, torn labrum and bicep tendon

jesus christ his shoulder must have been absolute slop for those to happen at the same time

Oh so he did actually have that injury. Not good if it's been repaired already.

Fyi, the biceps tendon attaches to the labrum, it's common for the surgeon to anchor the tendon to bone instead so it no longer pulls on the labrum. So probably was just a typical labrum repair (6-9 month recovery).

ref even tried to keep that puck in the neutral zone, ticked off his skate

make it a bit less obvious there stripes

ehh yeah i guess i automatically think distal end of the bicep cause i'm in the weightlifting world and that's much more common

just made me think elbow hyperextension and yanking the arm forward (ala kevin love) at the same time which seems incredibly rare in hockey

Maybe a few years ago. Pretty fair contract for him in the current day. Hes better than the other recent 6 million contracts.

Nah. He's a negative defensively and not enough offensively for three years.

Cool dude though. The results lag behind the cool factor.

Right back to the bad habits, the slow half wall Kopitar point pass to a Doughty one timer that's already being fronted by the two Van forwards who have seen that play on tape hundreds of times.

When Kopitar is on the half wall he has two options: a pass back to Doughty at the point or a hail mary across the ice to Kovalchuk. The Canucks just stack four down low. Kopitar’s possession is off the charts on powerplays but nothing ever happens as a result.

Yep, he is absolutely ZERO threat there, and I can't believe year after year we've neutered him with that "tactic".

I'll still say it's on him for not walking off the wall once in a while to keep the D honest, but my god, I could defend him myself if he paints himself into that box in the corner/halfwall.

Meanwhile, McNabb with the scummy knee-on-knee in Vegas, probably get discipine since it's against TO, can't hide from DoPS when that happens

Vegas is running out of "no record" players to defend.

Probably have a few more "get out of jail free cards" left that you get with an expansion team.
