Why are we taking out our best penalty killer. We all know D-Petey is coming out whether we like it or not when Hughes comes back. It should be Soucy imo.
It will be Soucy, they have made him available for a trade and D-Petey was told by Allvin before Quinn even got hurt that he will be staying.
There is absolutely no reason to keep Soucy in over him and Forbort has also earned the right to stay in.
That's not to say he won't be on a short leash, they could even alternate who's out which keeps Soucy and Forbort fresh.

But trade him for what? We’re not getting a player back of his caliber - at best we get one or two inferior pieces

No team can win a cup without true #1 C and there are only maybe a dozen of those in the nhl right now

I’d rather gamble that he returns to form in a year or two

Bingo. He's too talented to be a 55-60 point player for the next 7 years. And even on an off night offensively he brings a high baseline defensively.

He's clearly still maturing. I'd stick with him.

We have the money, chase both Rantanen and Marner and see what happens

He’s the opposite of what we need, we need more speed
The only problem is that both guys are wingers. Who's going to center them? If EP 40 was close to where he once was, it would be the best line in the NHL.

He has 1 assist and 5 shots in 3 games post Miller
He also had 3 points in a row and led by he team in shots in two of them. The dropoff came as soon as they took Linus and Hogz away.
Tochetts biggest flaw is his line combos, another example is having Joshua on the Chytil line especially with guys like Hogz and Sherwood busting there ass every shift.

You deal with what's available, if that means you load a bit on wing and defense, and go a bit lighter at centre, then it's probably what you do.

Like everyone else, gotta love D Petey. He's striking a great balance between playing confident but not overexerting or overdoing. Also, he seems to be incredibly strong without even looking like he's trying that hard. Imagine when he really grows into his man body and has more experience using it to his advantage.

Metey again with a strong steady game. It's funny how with D-men having a high IQ and average puck skills can often make you disappear, but of course in a good way. Quite the contrast to the types of games we've been seeing from Soucy and Juulsen this season who seem to have a habit of getting themselves into trouble for no reason. This type of acquisition was 3-6 months overdue.

Amazing how the addition of just two fast puck-carrying forwards has changed the look of this team, and it's not like either has proven to be a surefire top-6 guy. Chytil has been a treat to watch so far, almost forgot what's it's like having a forward that can make something out of nothing.

Which brings me to Petey, who is the opposite of a treat to watch... just frustrating. So easily pushed off the puck and out of the play, or just gets rid of it too early. Every night the stars on the other team are dancing and creating all game and the best we can hope from ours is that he's "solid defensively".

Great to see Demko have that awesome shift. He didn't have to be amazing all night but that sequence showed how a star goalie can have an impact on the momentum and story of the game.

Such a huge win. Team looked cohesive and like they actually give a f***.

Blueline is just reborn. Haven't even seen 43 + 29 in the lineup together yet. Tocchet and Foote could have at least one of QH, MP, or FH on the ice for literally every minute of the game if they wanted to. The D Peteys have transformed this blueline, and by extension this team, overnight.

Dak looked like Dak. Demko looked like Demko. Tocchet made good line adjustments. Strong team win. Get Hughes healthy and rested, and EP...yeah.

Multiple paths to a playoff berth, with CGY, LAK and COL all within striking distance. Now we need to get 2 points vs SJS and keep the good vibes rolling.

I've said all season, it's one of those years where you just got to get through things and get to the playoffs. Then see what happens. I'm expecting one more big move bef0re the deadline, but feeling optimistic about our chances.

Honestly if in the super unlikely case where we get both, you can put teddy Bluegar in the middle and they will both still score 100pt.

Chytils nickname is Heater and I won't be taking questions on the matter.

If we can somehow manage to add a top 6 winger before the deadline...

At 26, I would think O'Connor has hit his peak, but man, a guy at 6'3/200 lbs that can skate like that?

Fine with me. A guy like that is perfect for the bottom 6.
