It's amazing how much better and fun to watch this team is without JT, VD, Juulsen and Heinen. MP and D-Petey have been huge upgrades to the defence and DoC and Chytil bring so much more speed to the lineup. Great additions.

Except on the PP... we look brutal with Hughes. Like terrible.

But trade him for what? We’re not getting a player back of his caliber - at best we get one or two inferior pieces

No team can win a cup without true #1 C and there are only maybe a dozen of those in the nhl right now

I’d rather gamble that he returns to form in a year or two
Pettersson bad! Poster angry!

It will be Soucy, they have made him available for a trade and D-Petey was told by Allvin before Quinn even got hurt that he will be staying.
There is absolutely no reason to keep Soucy in over him and Forbort has also earned the right to stay in.
That's not to say he won't be on a short leash, they could even alternate who's out which keeps Soucy and Forbort fresh.
Guys like Forbort can benefit from a scratch as long as it’s communicated as rest. He’s old. Same with Myers. By the way, Forbort is now up to 9 straight games without a minus, although he was part of the long shift where Demko saved everyone’s butt. But still, it’s a streak, and considering the D problems this year at different points, why complain? He’s not Quinn, but neither are a bunch of them. There’s only one puck, and tonight it was Hronek’s. Over 7 minutes in PP time. The new MP3 played well also, but is he worth the money we are talking about? I don’t know. When Quinn is back, it’s his puck again. Petterson if signed long term will always be a second LHD behind Quinn, that’s only if the DPetey kid doesn’t push him to a near future third pairing. These talks about 7-8 year term deals at the price they are talking about is scary. He is 27. If he were 22 and playing like this, yeah. I sometimes think the GMs sign long deal, hope it gets them a Stanley in a year or so, when it doesn’t, they get fired, and leave an uncorrectable mess for the next G M. It’s more about themselves near term than it is long term to build a franchise. IDK. Maybe I’m crazy

hoglander should play his game and not think too much yes i know hes been snakebitten this year. 2 goals in 28 games in the beginning and getting benched. liek he stood up for linus karlsson because miles wood speared him below the belt. that will win coachs trust again. the team backed up for one another. myers was grabbing an avs player as well. miles wood should have gotten a major and got kicked out. dirty play.

This team is definitely 16 wins from a Cup if they make the playoffs.

You can feel it.
need another couple more pieces A 2nd line center and another Dman.

I still think they will trade EP40.

His play needs to elevate immediately to save his place on the team. He will be traded if he continues to be a non-factor. They aren’t going to waste another playoff run on him no-showing.

0% chance without a 1st line center coming back and I can’t imagine any team making that deal.

I reckon they see if Chytil excels at 2nd line C and if not, Boeser (+) for a center.

Good points. But EP2 will have 2 of those years on an ELC contract. Theres still the bad chance that Hughes is gone in 2 years. No reason to suggest PetterssonM will fall off a cliff in3ish years. If Hughes stays and EP2 takes over the 2nd pair, then MPetey can be kept as a costly 3rd pair or should be tradeable down the line. Colorado won the cup with Johnson on the 3rd pair at 6m

This is such a fan reaction that rarely happens in the NHL with top players. “Oh! They’re playing bad! Trade him!”

In that trade, you’re hoping to get back what you’re trading away. It makes no sense.

Tonight’s Game
  • Everyone stuck to the gameplan; had a really good video session today and everyone stuck with it
Elias Pettersson, From the Back End
  • Lots to like; he’s a bull out there; strong, good first pass…just a lot to work with
  • Prototypical defenceman that you want on your team
  • Is a guy they glad you have
  • Want to cocoon young defencemen; make sure they are in favourable situations
  • Now that he’s taken small bites, they have to give him more
  • Will look into giving him more defensive zone face-offs
Marcus Pettersson
  • Is a leader; chirps on the bench
  • Was talking during the last timeout; usually guys are quiet after they get traded
  • Adds a lot to the room
Blueger’s Line
  • Worked hard tonight; that’s their identity
Increased Scoring Chances
  • Chytil & O’Connor’s speed and willingness to go to the middle of the ice is creating chances; adding those two guys has helped their rush game
  • Marcus Pettersson & D-Petey both have a good first pass and that’s where you get the flow going
  • Likes the rush aspect to the game
  • Praises O’Connor for getting the puck and getting it up the ice with speed at the end of the game
Chytil
  • Haven’t had a full practice yet other than a morning skate
  • When you practice with guys like him, it’s contagious
  • Doesn’t get rid of the puck and, instead, holds on to it
Demko
  • Was outstanding
  • His game is coming; was fine in the Dallas game and was outstanding before that
  • Is used to playing several games in a row but are fortunate to have Lankinen
  • Are in good shape in goaltending
Who To Use in the Final Minute
  • Had a high confidence level in Chytil and O’Connor; Chytil won the draw
  • Even if they make a mistake, need to get them back out there and keep the confidence level high
O’Connor, Chytil, & Boeser
  • Had a gut feeling after the 1st period
  • Didn’t want to break up everybody
Joshua
  • Putting Joshua on the checking line with Suter and Sherwood would work; Joshua relishes that role
  • Feels Joshua’s game is starting to come around
Powerplay
  • Missed the net 3 times on middle shots
  • Rushed down-low plays
  • Need to show more poise; relax a little bit

A lineup with MP3, D-Petey and Willander anchoring a pair will be elite defensively. The talk of Mancini and proven pair of Hughes/Hronek is absolutely insane to think about! Mynio and Kud is a luxury we can sit and marinate for a while and that’s crazy.

We get to draft down the middle for a while and it feels good.

I was really unhappy and likely was overreacting with EP in the first but credit to him he played much better the rest of the game. I think he excels more with guys who create some chaos around the net and Boeser/ DeBrusk just don’t match that. I thinks that’s why he seemed more effective with a guy like Sherwood on his line.

Demko looked vintage tonight and if he can maintain that and stay healthy this team suddenly looks dangerous with a solidified defense and goaltending tandem. Maybe this team pulls a reverse 2024 and heats up at the end of the year.

Tocchet doesn't seem depressed anymore
What a coincidence me neither

Tocchets lockerroom gameplan:
“Demko! Stand on your head tonight, remember to watch out for errant pucks when Myers is behind you. You DeBrusk, time to go on a goal scoring streak. Brock, time to start burying some of these chances you keep getting. Elias” “which Elias?” Asks Garland. “The new D, yes you kid. Give em hell”

I'm a big fan of Forbort.
Personally I'd happy to lock M3P up because of the style he plays and a future left side of the tow Petey's and Quinn has potential to be really good. Our right side with Myers, Willander and Hronek also has really good potential and with both rookies on ELC's for three years, locking up Marcus and even keeping Forbort around if he's willing is a really solid Dcorp. We also have Mynio and Kudriatzev and Mancini who based on Rags fans and highlights could be a perfect Myers replacement.
The cap will also be 108 million in in 26-27 .

I'm not a big fan of what the sens and sabres did locking up kids at 21 to 8 year deals should only be reserved for the Quinns of the world. If you look at the sabres Cousins and Power have both regressed. Bridge deals carry a risk but I'm of the mind of paying players based on their performance opposed to what they might do but I can see why some GM's do it.

One thing is for certain is that our Dcorp looks as good as it's ever looked and while having a high-end Dcorp is expensive it's paramount. Having two rookies in the group that are above average is huge since they make league minimum.

This is such a fan reaction that rarely happens in the NHL with top players. “Oh! They’re playing bad! Trade him!”

In that trade, you’re hoping to get back what you’re trading away. It makes no sense.
Sabres are a perfect example, losing both Reinhart and Eichel set them back to basically another rebuild.
EP just needs to get his confidence back and wingers that he has chemistry with. Jake or Brock is fine but not together, I'd love a pure playmaker like Marner or a similar highly skilled guy I think the key to unlocking EP is playing to hi strength which is his shot. In the meantime put him with the two forwards he's produced with or seemed to have chemistry with which would be Sherwood, Hogz, Debrusk and Karlsson.
