And might I point out Forbort -1 and two penalties, one of which doesn't count because the Sens score on the delayed penalty call, the other results in a power play goal for the Sens. I'd rather see Fantenberg or MacDermid at this point. Forbort is not a NHL quality defenseman.

Kempe who has some speed and skill and scored off the rush last game and hit the post today only had 12 mins . Coaching is the biggest issue because of reasons like this and also systematic reasons . I can’t take watching players skate the puck up and passing it back on the pp over and over and over . Then the pp they don’t even move around it’s pathetic and hilarious . Unfortunately we care because we love the game and team but how does Blake not see this shit

Neither are Fantenberg nor MacDermid. Especially MacDermid .

It's either Blake sees but gives a long leash because he's an executive and doesn't want to be rash, or he has his head as deep in the sand as Stevens and Luc

Fantenberg's numbers in every statistical category were horrendous in game 1, which is why he hasn't played since. MacDermid has been absolutely brutally bad in 2 of his 3 games this season in the AHL.

The Kings should gut this roster and actually get on with a rebuild. It's not the end of the world watching a young team with some talent get worked over for a few seasons while they are learning. What is the point in any of this the last few seasons?

Amadio looks to have the makings of a good 3C on a championship caliber team.

I agree now is the time to blow things up. It's not just the roster. It's the lack of cohesion, preparation, and development.

I know we've butted heads a lot over the years. But I genuinely felt this had to happen first. I know you feel it was a waste of time, but a lot of people, from management down to the players, had to have their eyes opened.

And I still firmly feel there had to be replaceable players aside from just trading due to value. I know that's a fundamental difference in our philosophy, but I am 100% on board with major shakeups now, fwiw.

Forbort is an awful shitty defenseman no matter what bullshit metric other posters use to defend him.

With that said, we all know the Kings problems. And it wont get fixed with those two idiots behind the bench. Nothing more to say.

Onto the next loss.

A good way to open eyes would be to trade Carter.

This is where I'm at too. I'll watch the kids and performances from our superstars, but I won't expect a win until Stevens is gone.

They couldn't win a must win game against the McDavid-less Oilers in 14-15, and that was with Williams, Regehr, Greene, Stoll, and whatever was left of Richards still on the team. If he played that game, I forget. It would take me a second to look up, but I don't care.

I think focusing on Stevens is very easy at this point. Even in the golden age, they were never a great regular season team. Since then, they're no longer a great playoff team either. They even started 2014 as a horrible looking playoff team. There's no singular move that's going to save this team. That wasn't even the case in 11-12. That was firing Murray, and getting Sutter, and lucking out with King and Nolan, and getting Carter, and then Brown playing the best he's ever played. All that came after getting Richards.

Even if they had Barzal, what are they winning? Muzzin has regressed. Martinez has nobody to shelter him. I can't remember a Kings player falling as far out of favor as quickly as Toffoli has. Pearson might be the most vanilla player in the league. They're a team riding out the Cup contracts, without full out tanking, because it's tough to tank with no expiring contracts. Once Kopitar was signed, that meant Doughty was signing if he wanted to stay(no organization would've been smart enough to not sign a willing Doughty after 2 Cups). Since the loss to SJ in 2016, which was Lombardi's last attempt at the ring, they're rebuilding without tanking. The black hole was built in during the 12 month period between Sekera, Lucic, and the signing of Kopitar. Lombardi went for it, his risk taking finally caught up to him(it almost did in 11-12), and there's no reason to expect them to win simply by firing Stevens.

Bad game today, no doubt about it, although we finally had a game where our shot chances far outnumbered our opponents, but we didn't get a lot of quality looks. Good job by Ottawa with sticks to block and deflect so many attempts. Some D breakdowns during the game and Soupy had some happy feet today, so he'll need to regroup for Toronto. At the end of the day, we'll still be tied for 2nd place in the division unless Vancouver wins tonight in Florida. Way too much tread around here. Let's win the next one.

We can focus on individual players all we want. Fact is, the only times guys look good are when they're doing things independent of 'the system' (whatever it may be) and improvising like Kovalchuk's PP entry and Kempe saying "f*** it" and charging the d-man and uncorking a shot, and when everyone sucks, yes, that's on the coaching. They're unprepared (yes, partially on players/leadership), mismatched, and when you have a coach that says one thing and does completely another, and doesn't hold Thompson accountable to the same standard he would Amadio, there are issues.

I'll say it again--go from top possession team by several percentage points to bottom of the barrel. Take a higher percentage of high danger shots, but bleed shots against. We were literally the best defensive team and best PK in the league last year, Kopitar had 92 points, Doughty was Norris caliber, we were nearly a 100 point team in a division with a Cup finalist without Jeff Carter. Now we are getting rung up for 50 shot attempts against for 3 nights in a row which hadn't happened in years, and against Detroit, Montreal, and now Ottawa. They're youthful and playing for pride, but on paper, it should not be a repetitive beatdown on our end of the ice. What's more likely--these guys all suddenly turning to mush in 6 months, or coaching issues? Come on.

May I suggest the annoying coworker approach then?

We all have that one coworker who just continues to do dumb things. You know it's going to annoy the **** out of you, and you go in to work anyway and hope that a good story comes out of it.

Like, me... I'm really laughing that they didn't practice yesterday and there's this shock of "why do they look so unprepared? Why does the PP look as bad as before?"

That's one of those things where you see what you want to see. If they had practiced, and still had this same result(and they've played this way all year so far), it would've been what are they actually doing when they practice? How many years has it been that they started a game slowly, and look unprepared? It was the same with Sutter, it was the same with Murray. Before that, they weren't good. It's all about W's and L's. If they win, details don't get talked about. If they lose, everything gets examined under a microscope. Every word anyone on the team says gets analyzed. If they practice, of they don't practice. Had they won today, nobody brings up practice. That's how everything is in life.

I agree now is the time to blow things up. It's not just the roster. It's the lack of cohesion, preparation, and development.

You don't blow things up quickly in a hard cap league. The trades have to work for other teams too, not just the Kings. Most of the guys the Rangers got rid of last year had expiring contracts. The Kings don't have anyone like that this year. Other than guys like Kempe and Iafallo. Thompson, Fantenberg, and Budaj are the only UFA's.
