Post-Game Talk: GM 47 | Canucks lose 6-2 (Boeser, Hronek) | Hockey is more fun when we win.

Boeser 100000% has to be traded at the deadline. If they don't, it will be worse than the Hamhuis non-trade.

I doubt anyone is offering value for Demko. I would offer him for a conditional 1st rounder on the contingency that the team makes it to the 2nd round or whatever. I doubt you are getting an unprotected 1st for him.
Demko is borderline worthless at this point, no team is going to come in for him when he’s struggling this bad. We just need to play him like crazy and hope his play rebounds.

82.35% tonight. I didn't see the game, but the fact this stat keeps getting worse is doubleplus ungood.

At least his next contract will be cheap. I was worried he might get $8mx8, probably would have if he was able to be signed last year. If he can't find form it might be backup money. He's going full Corey Schneider.

I don't want to trade any of our top 6. But I will not be upset if it happens because at this point somethings got to give

They're reeling.

Perry goads Friedman, who wants to fight him, but people will say the toughness is not there. DeBrusk doesn't run Skinner when he has the chance. Again, toughness. Nurse is just laughing at VAN reacting, toughness infinity.

If VAN had more goals, nobody would care.

Desharnhais is there, what did he do? Take penalities. Soucy was there, he's fought before, was just bad again.

Miller was there, he didn't fight.

This isn't toughness, the team isn't good enough. That's what matters.

they should be listening on everyone but the problem is they have no depth and no succession plan at key positions. i think both pettersson and miller are problems but no one is giving you anyone better back in return and you can't even pretend to be a real team with blueger and suter as your top centers

they should definitely move at least one of them along with boeser and suter and you should probably move garland, hronek, soucy and heinen if anyone will give you anything decent for them.

Demko's body breaking down before Jacob Markstrom was not something I had on my bingo card 5 years ago.

It's insane how far off everyone's play is from this time last year in January - from 5 all stars to 1. I genuinely thought they had turned the corner and were over this shit last year, but somehow everyone's gone back to the loser mentality they had pre-Tocchet.

Would not be surprised if pretty much everyone outside of Hughes/Hronek was available in some capacity.

we need to get rid of some dead weights like Desharnais and Heinan first.

You almost wish this team had flopped last year instead of going on that playoff run. You would have maybe seen more commitment to making changes sooner along with less shit being signed.

It's very similar to the 2020 bubble which reportedly earned Benning some more rope which ultimately led to that franchise crippling trade.

Imagine watching this game in full and your main takeaway being "Yeah, trading JT Miller fixes all of this."
I can tell people didn’t watch the game. He played fine. His line produced the only two goals. Good on faceoffs, threw his body around, drove the net and created space for Brock to walk in and snap home a goal.

I don’t understand how the long term outlook changes at all with Miller gone. We’re not good enough and that doesn’t change with one less 1c without a replacement.

In the end, it doesn't matter how, but team needs to be better.

As I said, skeletor and moleman are giving me Commando Dimbo vibes now - and I do NOT say that lightly. When everyone's healthy this is a playoff team? What are you talking about??? How about blink twice if you're being held at gunpoint?

Our front office needs to pull their heads out of their own asses and DO THEIR GODDAMN JOBS.

this core is done man and miller is so old hes almost a boomer at this point. theres no point keeping him

The people that want Miller to be traded for nothing, just to get him off the team, are the male equivalent of women that shout at reality tv.

Just addicted to the drama.
Buddy the Canucks own management team was about to trade him for nothing last weekend for exactly that reason 😂.

Surely Allvin is just addicted to the drama though right

Well this season I feel like is the opposite of last year, Injuries to all the key players and shitty ass vibes.
I don’t feel the same despair with Benning, this management group has proven that they can scout and can trade and get actual assets back.

The biggest issue with a Miller trade is Pettersson becoming the #1 guy up front. It would be a total disaster and I would probably give it 1-2 seasons before he demands a trade.

The 2024-2025 season summed up

CanucksSeason.png

The thing that I hated the most in this game was when Soucy had an opportunity to hammer Perry in the corner—maybe 10 min after Perry had taken down Hughes in that scrum.

And Soucy let up on Perry instead. This team is not looking out for each other. Not even after your captain and best player is wronged.

I would not mind seeing Soucy let go this off-season when his trade protection expires. His play is meh but his attitude is way too laissez-faire. It’s no surprise that Minnesota and Seattle let him go so easily.

You must have forgotten how bad Benning was. Benning would’ve panicked and traded Lekk and Willander for like a 4th liner at this point and then extended him with like a 5M contract for the next 6 years.

Desharnais is like wasting air. Just goes and hug his old friends. What the f*** is he there for, gave up 3 stupid ass penalties where we got scored on twice.

Ok fine, blow it up. But I’ll be damned if I’m gonna give him up for another team’s trash AND having to retain.

I rather just make off-season trades beyond Brock if we’re blowing it up. Frustration and impatience is useless.

Not saying they are equivalent of Dimbo, but they are starting to speak and act in similar ways.

The state of the team's defense, aside from the catastrophic fall of Soucy, is 100% their doing. And they think everyone healthy means this is a playoff team.

No, just...no.
