Happy 600th game coaching, Tocchet. Clearly they gave their all for you.

Not looking forward to Luke "Canucks are a joke" Gazdik smirking throughout the broadcast on Hockey Day in Canada as he talks about the brilliant plays his old roomie Connah made as they pummel this already dead horse.

yes if we just get a 5th coach for this core things will change
I’m not even advocating to fire him necessarily. I just don’t think the team can win with him behind the bench. His style doesn’t mesh with the personnel imo. This is not a heavy team. I don’t see any better alternatives so the team just needs to ride it out and hope management actually addresses the dumpster fire that’s the defense

The "Benning stink" is real.

Pathetic losing culture between 2018-2022 has taken its toll. Miller, Boeser and Pettersson are no different than 2005-2006 Bertuzzi, Naslund and Morrison.

Tocchet is an issue but this core has that stink that will always lead to implosions.

This GM needs to be cut throat here. It's time to do business.

I don’t know if I’ve ever followed a more obviously dysfunctional team. Like, the Benning teams were just bad. But everyone knew they were bad, and there was no surprise or anything.

This team should be better. But the Miller theatrics and obvious anger from Tochett are just wild. Miller was a crowd favorite half a year ago, and loved by Tochett.

Well at least the draft will be a lot more interesting......I think by March we're going to see lot of young players in the lineup as they strive for a high pick.

Think the most one-sided home defeat the team has suffered during the Tocchet era. Just dismantled by a better team. Canucks might be the worse team in the NHL right now.

Good

Hughes - only core player close to adequate

Bad

Boeser - did more to screw up the PPs than anyone on the Kings. Just another crap outing. Now clear that last years good season had a lot more to do with the great year Miller was having, rather than it had to do with Boeser. Now that Miller has tanked, Boeser's play has fallen off a cliff. Stunk offensively, defensively and every other way in this game.

Miller - nothing offensively and making brutal turnovers. All over the map in his play - if he is hurt just shut him down. Season apparently going no where anyhow.

Pettersson - taken so easily out of the play. At a point, where people look to find some defensive plays to defend him. Looks and plays like he has little interest.

Demko - looked wretched. 5 goals on less than 20 shots. That's not helping the save % last time I inquired. Looked clumsy spinning around in his crease and losing sight of the puck. Rarely seemed square to the puck and couple of times just flat out fell down. Our saviour is proving a false idol.

Hronek - could expect some fall off in his play given the lenght of time away he was away. And those expectations were realized in this game. Plays like this and Canuck management will rue the day they signed that contract last off season. Usual good passing up from the back was big time missing in this contest and he fumbled with the puck way too often.

Heinen - skates around, takes a few swipes at the puck and then goes quietly to the bench. Seldomly seen a player less engaged.

Others

Desharnias - you get bet Jeannot won't be messing with any of our players after the thorough shirt tugging he got laid on him in this game. I guess we found another thing "big Daisy" can't do well. And who needed Zadorov anyhow.

Hoglander - don't think I've seen many players try so hard and get less done.

Myers - in the absence of much structure in the Canuck game, and need to produce offense, Myers has reverted to the wild play of former times. Might work sometimes, but mostly contributes to the further breakdown of any coordinated team play.

Couldn't help myself tonight and began glacing at scores to see who we still might catch in the lottery turtle derby.

I dont know why but i was thinking after last game that they might be fired up and with the line combos Lekker Pettersson Debrusk and Hronek Demko back actually was excited to watch this game.

what a buzz kill

Been saying for years, not sure if it's a stat that's tracked, but Demko has gotta lead the league in allowing the first shot in.

As good as he can be, he's also has some brutal stretches. He was flat out the worst goalie in the league to start the 22-23 season, and playoff hopes were all but gone by the time he recovered.

Tonight’s Game
  • Actually thought they were going to start well but made some absolutely egregious plays
  • Made wrong decisions at the wrong times; some guys are making some really bad reads right now
  • Told the group to relax when he called the timeout
  • Need more focus in their game; three goals against where they had guys diving everywhere
  • You get punched in the mouth and you get back up; can’t quit on yourself or your teammates
  • If you’re playing hockey long enough, you usually find yourself in these situations
  • Looking for some character guys out of this
  • Same things happened in Winnipeg
  • He has to correct the mistakes
  • Can’t just run two lines and needs some of the guys to step it up; even if it’s just playing neutral and don’t make big mistakes
  • Will have the message tomorrow; hopefully some of the guys get together after tonight
  • Not making the hockey IQ plays
  • Not sure if it’s focus level, nerves, etc; doesn’t understand some of the mistakes they are making
Miller
  • Is struggling and is caught in-between
  • Seems like every time he’s on the ice, something bad happens
  • Has run into some bad luck but also is making some poor reads
  • Needs to look at himself right now and focus on some of these reads
  • Can’t dive in on a 4-on-4
  • He’s trying but thinks the focus level has to get higher
Hughes
  • Can’t do it himself; can’t play one-on-one hockey
  • Can’t play him 29 minutes
  • He’s trying to make something happen
Demko
  • Has been out for so long and then had back spasms
  • Need to get him on a bit of a roll and play some games
  • Will continue to work with him
  • Is a hell of a goalie and will come out of it

If this continues, then we collective relinquished our rights to bitch about Hughes wanting to leave for NJD.

Or...EDM.

All the player values have tanked.

So even if you want to make a deal, you have no leverage.

Mgmt clearly was hoping for a turn around but it’s only getting worse.

They either cave and start doing some deals not to try and right the ship in any capacity.

Or watch it burn till the TDL but by then, they could have even less leverage if the team continues to struggle.
