Fox pointed it out too--said he might be the most skilled guy with speed he's ever seen. He's got that uncanny Bure explosion and can do everything at top speed. Hell, he might be better when he's flying. It's so fun to watch.

One guy on our team who I think challenges him--Kempe. There was a fun shift in the third where he blanketed him pretty good. I don't think ANYONE has the stutter step explosions McDavid has, but Kempe can battle.

I know exactly the shift you’re talking about and I thought the same thing. Every zig and zag that McDavid made, Kempe matches stride for stride. Kempe doesn’t have the offense that McDavid has, and he doesn’t have the zone defense skills yet, but his one on one defense is a thing of beauty.

I'm sorry I can only laugh because it means Andreoff will be a lineup fixture for a few games. He made that goal look so effortless, then went right back to being the drooling crash test dummy that's only fun to watch because he single handedly turns every play into a ticking time bomb of unpredictability.

The problem with those #1's is they never drafted a defenseman. Well, I guess they did with Nurse but he hasn't turned out to be anything more a #4 so far. Eventually you need to get that stud #1 d-man.

The even bigger problem is McDavid came along after all the other #1's. If they could've taken him back in 2010, then the ball gets rolling. Hall is terrific, but he's a winger. RNH in 2011, a center, and he's ok, but if they had already McDavid, maybe they do something different. Or, of course, they could've taken Scheifele, but I don't think he was rated #1 or anything, so that's playing the woulda coulda shoulda draft game. In 2012, 3 of the top 4 picks are nothing.

Getting #1 picks is one thing, getting the #1 pick in the right draft can be another. 2011 was alright, a couple players there, but not the best. 2012? One of the uglier overall top 10's I can think of.

probably has to do with the fact that you're a sponsor and thus don't have to fight the javascript and ads with adblockers

Sometimes they're so bad I even wonder if they register as shot attempts. That backhand from the goalline that went 45 degrees AWAY from the net and towards the slot had me laughing my ass off.

Mitchell and Jokinen are 2/3 of a monster 4th line.

that's what drove me crazy about seeing jokinen sitting so many games. him and mitchell are peas in a pod. jokinen has the smarts and the sneakiness, mitchell has the hustle
