• The Avalanche defeated the the two-time defending champions 4 goals to 2 on Monday with two goals coming from Tyson Barrie.
  
• The Avalanche are 14-21-8 on the road in LA and are 6-9-1 on the road this season, but are 3-2 in their last 5 meeting against the Kings.
  
• Semyon Varlamov will start against the Kings tonight who is 11-8-1 this season with a 3.02 GAA and a .908 save% and only 1 shutout. But Varlamov has won 3 of his last 4 starts with a 2.50 GAA and a .925 save% as the Avalanche offense has started to pick up.
  
• Erik Johnson will not play as he is serving the 2nd game of a 2 game suspension
• The Kings defeated the Flyers on Monday by a score of 4-1 to end a 3 game losing streak and the Kings will hope to turn this into a new winning streak.
  
• Christian Folin suffered an upper-body injury against the Flyers. It unknown what his injury actually is, but John Stevens said he "jammed something". It is unkown how long Folin will be out. To replace Folin, the Kings called up defenseman Kevin Gravel from the Ontario Reign. Gravel played 49 games last season with the Kings, but found himself starting in the AHL this year due to suffering from Crohn's Disease making him lose 40lbs over the summer.
  
• The Kings will be honoring Marian Gaborik for his 1,000th career game tonight.
  
• Tonight will be Dustin Brown's 1,000 career game as an NHL and LA Kings player. Brown was selected 13th overall in the 2003 NHL entry draft and eventually captained the LA Kings to their first 2 Stanely Cups.

Thankfully Brown is back to being a productive player for the 1,000th game. Been an interesting career for him. Ups and downs, twists and turns. That 2012 playoff was pretty damn special.
