After last nights game.

I think the Kings better play on the ice is directly related to giving more opportunities to prospects. I think the following lineup reflects the true depth of the Kings at this point. Guys with stars are everyday players. Other guys should be rotated as healthy scratches every 2-3=games to keep their legs fresh and hopefully raise their level of play progressively.

Iafallo**-Kopitar**-Brown**
Wagner**-Amadio**-Luff**
Scherbak**-Kempe**-Toffoli**
Leipsic**-Thompson-Kovalchuk
Hagelin, Carter

Trade: Lewis, Clifford

Forbort-Doughty**
Muzzin**-LaDue
Brickley-Fantenberg**
Phaneuf

Trade: Martinez

I think this fits in the cap, and you could get 2nd to 4th round picks in the next draft with the trades.

Because of WD...Stevens had Kovalchuk top 6 and Kovalchuk was one of the 2 best forwards every game and was leading scorer on the team.

Can we put this useless diatribe to bed already,

Kovalchuk played SEVERAL games under WD alongside Carter in a top six role, and did NOTHING......then his minutes got reduced and was put on IR....maybe he did nothing because of his ankle...who knows,

But this diatribe that WD came in and immediately moved him to the 4th line is idiotic and not true.

On November 4th, Desjardins was named head coach. The Kings beat the Ducks, Kovalchuk had 15:08 TOI, and had a goal and two assists.

Two nights later, Kings lose to Minnesota 3-1. Kovalchuk got 20:48 TOI, including 5:10 on the PP, and was a -2.

Two nights after that, Kings lose 1-0 to Calgary. Kovalchuk gets 19:48 TOI, 4:41 on the powerplay, zero shots on goal.

Few nights later against Toronto, Kings lose 5-1. Kovalchuk gets 15:02, 2:20 with a man advantage, one shot and a minus one.

16:12 against Chicago. 16:25 against Nashville. 12:47 against St. Louis. 16:02 against Colorado. 13:23 against Vancouver. 6:20 against Edmonton. 9:05 against Vancouver. 14:11 against Edmonton. Then out.

Kings have gone 3-4-2 without Kovalcuk.

The only issue I see is that Kovalchuk wasn’t really playing poorly. I just don’t think he fit in with anyone chemistry-wise. I’d like to see him with Leipsic and Sherbak, see if they can dangle their way through opponents.
