I don’t like our handling of Steel right now at all. He should have gone down to the AHL 2 weeks ago to work on things and build confidence. Makes me think he could be dealt in a couple weeks

Our handling of Steel has been horrid since the start of last season. How he hasn't had any AHL games the last two seasons is beyond me.

My issue is that it kind of feels like they’ve given up on him developing his offensive skills and are treating him as a future 3C grinder that wins faceoffs as his ceiling.

That very well could have been the outcome anyway but I still feel like he has potential on offense. I’d love to see him go down for 10 games

He needs to be playing somewhere. Maybe needed a bit of a mental/physical break but at some point he needs to get back into games

If you watch the last game Steel played you'll see he totally gave up on two plays that led directly to goals against. Any coach in the NHL would have him in the press box for that and don't think the other players didn't see it as well. He should be in the AHL but he may have to pass thru waivers to get there and I'm sure the Ducks don't want to lose him for nothing.

If Comtois and Rakell can get hot again, maybe throw them with Lundy again, and the Zegras and Terry line can get red hot, they might be able to outscore their D problems.

This season is pretty much done so also looking at Oct if Rakell is still here. I’m still on the fence with keeping him or not, really depends what he wants and what kind of return Bob gets for him in a trade and I am not feeling very confident Bob will max out his value and the hockey trade comment, makes me nervous as well.

Why would he have to pass through waivers? He’s on his ELC

I have zero problem scratching him for a game or 2. But it’s now been 4-5 games I believe and at a certain point you have to do something with him. Too much time away from game action isn’t going to benefit him
