Then he lost him on waivers, that's what I mean. I forget why. Couple days before they got Penner, so maybe something to do with that. Got him for nothing, so a decent enough trade to try and find some depth, but Lombardi loved taking a chance on previously injured vets. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Hey Carter actually did something, unfortunately it was a penalty. Down to for defenseman for the rest of the game it looks like
 
I get it would be shitty to lose Drew for an extended period of time but got to go glass half full and figure it would guarantee a bottom of the barrel finish.

When you're tied for last, injuries take on little to no significance. As long as they're not career threatening in some way. Injuries also tend to pile up for bad teams. Guys get that surgery and end their season a few weeks early. Which makes total sense, just saying if Doughty is in or out, either way. Not like he's playing at some level that he's must watch.

Once you get past the oh man they're bad phase, an uncompetitive season is pretty relaxing. Not too much matters.

Kovalchuk, Clifford, Lewis, Hagelin, Brodzinski, Martinez, Doughty, and Phaneuf? Oh and Jack Campbell.
