I imagine Tocchet's short and sweet press conference had more to do with hopping on a plane to Vegas more than anything else.

Besides, what's he going to say? He's not going to Psycho-analyze his players. We all saw it. Got up 2-0 then folded like a cheap camp stool. A cheap late call on Myers and a fluky goal.

Guenther probably thought back in the day that he might be going 9th overall in 2021 to the Canucks....but was the sacrificial top-10 in the OEL trade--the gift that keeps on giving.

Depends on whether you're a glass half-full, or a glass half-empty person. Hard reality is the better team won tonight.

Without Demko in the first period, this team would have been buried after the first 20 minutes. You look at this Utah blueline......from top to bottom, far more mobility and puck-handling ability. Not really surprising that it was a Utah blueliner Sergachev who got the winner.

It's really jarring in a game like this.

100%. Blowing a 2 goal lead with 10 mins left is awesome !!
it’s not often that everything goes right like last year.
The Canucks were the inferior team tonight, no doubt.

The previous champs Panthers & Avs literally lost against the canucks in convincing fashion as well just a week ago, it's hockey, it's like how life works.

Relax people.

I took that as being disciplined and keeping fresh legs on the ice when given the opportunity. Bad things happen when you don't...
Yes. We saw what happens with 30 seconds left and you take a high risk play after being on top long. Petey was being disciplined with the shorter shifts.

Even if this year isn't gonna result in anything significant, I still won't be too concerned.

Like that lovely bastard Bryzgalov said, it's only game.

Myers certainly opened the door to Utah's comeback. The guy just has the worst timing and judgemental.

What really struck me about Miller is how much he stood around waiting for someone to pass him the puck. He seemed very flat footed and checked out for a lot of the game

Caught part of Sat Shah and Dan Riccio on the Sportsnet 650 post-game. I thought I heard them say that Blueger and Suter have more even strength points than Miller and Pettersson.

Is this even possible? Not much wonder the team is up and down, if true.

Pettersson is second man the team in even-strength points so that’s not true. Both have more than Miller but have played 9 & 10 more games than him.

However, Sherwood, Blueger, and Suter have more 5v5 points than Pettersson & Miller.

the canucks are leaning top centers are playing some very tough assignments and using them to shelter weaker parts of the lineups. it's skewing things.

this team's production isn't going to look normal until they address the defense.

i mean they let one high danger chance in the third. They didn't play badly in the third. Weak penalty and flukey goal sucks tho

Yeah, I have no real problems with that 3rd period.

We gave them f-all but Demko dropped a puck he should have had for 2-1 and then a soft penalty and a fluke bounce and it’s 2-2.

Thought our 1st was iffy but the last 40 minutes were very solid. Shit happens sometimes.

On a different note Cooley is the real deal. Guenther is one of Canada's best young RWs he should represent as long as the NHL and International play can get sorted.

Kesselring? How the hell did the Oilers let another one get away.

The PP thing is pretty goddamn weird. Like, are they going to switch off each game? Also it's like they're going out of their way to feed the rumours. Tone deaf stuff. My best, most generous guess is that they're trying to keep a spot for Garland open, and they don't want to punish either centre unduly by permanently keeping them off. But if so, and if you don't want to create a media circus, you better explain that.

Could it also be that this team has never won anything in a half century and if we are using history to prognosticate likely won’t win a cup in our lives ?
Yep, you can add that factiod to the pile for sure.

Although I post like a 12 year old, I've followed the team since it entered the league. It's been a long and bitter ride. The media dog pile in 2011 created a degree of disillusion I'm not certain will ever leave. The crowing glory on a history of this shit sandwich. lol

I had to stop posting when Benning had his contract renewed the first time.

All this said, expectations were low this year because the team has had so little room for errors and I don't fault any organization for making some of them, particularly if they have a reasonable chance of producing a positive result, but these guys were behind a rack of eight balls.

There's a possibility this team can put it together sometime over the next couple of years, but I'm not particularly confident they'll do it. During the previous regime, I realized that winning a cup isn't inevitable, and there's now a higher likelihood I'll never see cup. As a fan, that's an unsettling, yet curious attitude to cop to.

Yup. And it's not anything new to Myers either. It's not as if he hasn't had these kinds of calls against him before at the end of games but it doesn't seem to be registering with him to do something different
To put it kindly, Myers is an enigma.
