Pretty disappointed to see Quick starting against a division rival considering how great my boy Cal has been.

He will get in tomorrow probably, he could probably use a break if not physically then mentally. He as not supposed to be playing in the NHL this year.

Isn't it weird to be wishing Quick wasn't starting? I think we all are very very very happy with Cal so far, shattered every expectation I had. No weak goals (i didn't see the Colorado game where we got blown out though), highlight reel saves, doesn't get rattled, never seems to over play the situation or be out of position. Awesome stuff.

Except for one very problematic weakness.. his upper body is stiff and can be beaten there. Look at the TML game and you’ll see them pick that spot time and again! Hell even Foxy mentioned it during the broadcast,..
If the Kihgs are smart, they’ll sign him to a 3-4 year deal in the cheap and trade him... get what they should have gotten for Martin Jones, who IMHO is a better goaltender

If you haven't noticed, Quick has a multitude of issues as well Where hes always over playing and out of position.

Fox has a bigger boner for Quick than for his own wife. Don't take him seriously

You do realize that injuries and all, Quick is still a premier #1 goaltender right?
I know you have a man crush on Cal but the kid is an asset, heck a free one at that so if he can land us a nice pick or be packaged for something better you do it! Period!

Nah, I can't agree with this one. I am a huge Quick fan and supporter. If the opportunity presents itself, Quick should be traded at the deadline for pretty much whatever Blake can get. Getting out from under the remainder of the term on Quick's contract would be a huge win for Blake. Trading Quick will be none too easy though.

The best thing to hope for now is that Quick returns to form, and a need arises for a #1 goalie on a team which is truly a contender.

No way Blake should trade Cal Petersen.

I'd easily trade Quick first because he's signed for a long ass time and has an injury history.

It's not even close. I think your man crush is on a whole other level considering your comment haha

we're on a roll. Kings 5-1

In Petersen we trust, right! - ride him hard and put him away wet

man - that 29th on PP is kinda rough, yah?! ouch

Damn!! 28th on the PK ain't so hot either. reality sucks just a bit :thumbd:

Quick is in his thirties, he won't be a #1 by the time this team is ready to contend again if he's even still playing, I love Quick and he's the first jersey I ever bought but at some point the torch has to be passed

I do not understand the 2nd PP unit. I like that Carter is on it with TT and Kempe. But why Thompson and Phaneuf? Rather have Martinez and Muzzin in their places.

Since Phaneuf got here, he's averaged 23 seconds of PK time. This season, it's been 32 seconds. Since the coaching change, it's been 15 seconds. M&M are averaging over 2 minutes each on the PK.

For the year, with Kovalchuk here, M&M have had a much lower significance to the PP. Muzzin averages 47 seconds for the year, and 15 seconds under WD. Other than Doughty, it seems like they're trying to keep everyone a little more level in some way. M&M were at their best when they didn't have to do everything, except that now they don't have Greene, Mitchell, Regehr, and Scuderi to PK. If Phaneuf isn't going to be out there, because he's too old and slow, then it has to be M&M, along with Doughty and Forbort.

Thompson plays "guy in front of net" on the PP I guess. Or the corner dig guy. Or coach's way of sending a message to other guys guy. Or place holder until Luff gets a chance guy.

Quick is playing tonight or tomorrow, so either way.

Quick is going to be making $7m in cash through next season, and will only be 33 in Jan. That's old, but not old old. Even in hockey terms that not old old. Then he's signed for 3 additional seasons after next year. You'll probably have to wait a bit for the torch passing.

Absolutely Cal Petersen should traded and I’d also move Quick if given the opportunity. The issue is that contract hence I also refer to our “core” which is really saying our immovables. Cal is going to be a #1 but it won’t be here just like it wasn’t for Jones, so let him build up value then cash in. If you could package with Carter and get a 1st + Pesce i’d Do it. Or Amart + Cal for a 1st + and so on.. the way this team is going we’d be fine with Campbell and whatever is left, the point is to move as many big contracts as possible, Lose for Hughes, maybe finally sign some Russians and rebuild...

Even an injured Quick is still more talented than Cal Petersen and if “winning” instead of rebuilding is your fancy then Wuick is still your guy..

When it comes to wanting anyone on this team to be Kings for their entire careers just for sentimental reasons, it would be Brown and Quick.

That said, Quick will not be a King for his entire career. Petersen wasn't signed just to be a good back up and then traded like Jones. Petersen doesn't sign with LA unless you can see that Quick doesn't have a stranglehold on the spot for the duration of the contract.

We've been losing with Quick. Might as well unload him. There isn't a rational argument to be made unless you think the Kings can win the cup this year.

BTW an injured Quick? Lol. Come on. Quick at the top of his game was amazing. He's not there often anymore. Last it showed up was against Vegas and it doesn't stick around long.

BTW don't conflate flashy saves to talent. Cal is a technical goalie not an athletic one.

How’s this for rational Sol, he’s injured, he’s older and the way the FO speaks of him, he’s likely part of their core... As for Cal, you must not have read what I posted. The kid is technical but has a stiff upper body that was exploited to a tee by the TML and if you really want to see his deficiency, just go back the last few games and watch how players specifically target his shoulders and how many times they get past him only to hit a post.. I’d rather take a chance with Campbell

You really, really need to take your own advice here. For all the criticism you've levied on Quick over the years, the least you could do is gracefully handle some constructive criticism about Cal. Hell, i know you're excited for ANY goalie not named Quick to be in our net, but at least try to enjoy the best goalie in Kings history, and you SHOULD root for him from at least the standpoint of positive asset for trade.

Yeah, it's most important to see what happens when 'the book is out' on him. Look at Martin Jones' game completely evaporate.

How injured? If we're talking 2014 playoffs injured Quick, then sure, but that was almost 5 years ago. Quick's style is going to lead to more frequent injuries. He isn't the man he used to be.

Just go back the last few seasons... each time he’s been injured he’s come back strong and led us to victories. Is he Elite, nope.. too many injuries for that, is he an above average #1, absolutely!
Injuries have plagued Quick since he came up but his groin would be a much bigger scare to me than a knee. He literally carried this team vs VGK and I expect him to play well tonite.

Which is why I would move him with a Toffoli, Carter, Amart it Muzzin to get a better return.

Probably looking at D with Hedman out

Exactly, Martinez is likely their target since he can play both sides and would likely jumpstart his offense with that team. I would live to get their 1st + Cernak... you know, to make up for past mistakes lol

I love Quick and want him to retire a King. Pettersen looks damn good. Short sample size tho.

I’ll take Petersen going forward as I’m all in on the rebuild. Will be painful if/when Quick moves on.

Tampa has to add more considering that Martinez is our most and last handsome player on the team. He ain't cheap.
