GDT: Gm#25 LA Kings vs Edmonton Oilers @6:00pm 11/29/18

I'm only hoping that the loss doesn't lead WD to benching LaDue and tightening Kovy's minutes.

I am really not sure what people see in LaDue. He is a turn over machine along the walls (where you have to win 50/50 puck battles). He has the same problems Gravel had with the Kings.

LaDue does skate well, but that only gets you so far as a Defender.

Kovy kept his shifts short the whole night. Several shifts once the team lost possession he made his way to the bench. I am not sure if that's a Willie D instruction or Kovy is just "F this I am only playing offense". It wasn't every shift but it was more than a handful.

Ladue was good tonight and was as close to scoring a few times as much as anyone. He's been better each game and if he can finally play consistently, he will become
what we had hoped for, 2 years ago.

Wonder who TBL are targeting...it would seem to be a defenseman and I would think that would be either Muzzin or Martinez. But if there has to be salary coming
back (and probably a prospect or pick as well) who would that be? 2 Kings scouts in TB tonight.

The Kings made the St Louis tank fans very disappointed tonight.

Clifford / Carter / Toffoli....2 ES goals in 11 games. Best second line in the NHL. Iafallo; lowest scoring 1st line LW in NHL since last year to now. Move him down and put Kovy back
with Kopitar and Brown. They never really played much together since camp.

I remember it as Ladue and a first.

Rumor: - LA Kings with heavy interest in Landeskog

Probably the most recent incarnation and it's mostly Pearson + Muzzin with Avs fans saying Muzzin is too much.

@redcard brought the receipts:

Confirmed Signing with Link: - [LAK] Kings sign Paul LaDue to 2 year contract ($825k AAV)

I've got both.

Y'all did that to yourself.

Here's the Landeskog thread from January 2017. Rumor: - LA Kings with heavy interest in Landeskog. Ladue's name only shows up on p.12, with no reference to being a trade, only mentioning the prospect depth.

Friedman's 30 thoughts 5 days later mentioned the Avs were scouting LA and looking at LaDue, though Friedman had heard that he wasn't available. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-canadian-team-land-kevin-shattenkirk The "source" Friedman was likely John Hoven who referred to LaDue as the only untouchable of the Kings blue line prospects

Since then there are 120 mentions of LaDue on the Avs board, all of them mocking the "untouchable Paul LaDue."

Speculation: - LA Kings with heavy interest in Landeskog

Here's the Kings' board discussion, in which an Avs fans suggests it may not be Landeskog, but a rental the Kings are targeting and the responses from Kings fans are that LaDue should not be traded for a rental. The general consensus in the posts that follow were that LaDue was not near enough to land Landeskog.

Conclusion: The "They wouldn't trade LaDue for Landeskog" was a narrative a few Avs fans created for themselves...and then oddly repeated for a year and a half.

I guess I don't see what you do. I am always impressed with LaDue's ability to not make the panic play. He has great puck possession skill that allows him to get out of trouble and find time to make a tape to tape pass. I honestly don't see him being a turnover machine, especially when compared to seemingly the rest of our D core whose first instinct is to chip to nowhere. I did notice Kovy shortshifting, I really hope it is not him checking out.

I like Cliffy's energy, but he is seriously dragging that line down. It is not his fault, but he does not work with that pair.

Iafallo doesn't score but he just somehow fits in with that line. He made 2 great passes to Brown that he scores on a majority of the time.

Remember that rumor couple years ago Landeskog for Ladue swap, folks here "Hell no Ladue stays"....yeah..

Lol where the hell did you read that. I remember most of us wanting Landy.. I doubt any Kings fan seriously gave a damn about ladue

They really should try Iafallo as the third line Center. He does all the little things right, and he is a savy Hockey IQ player. He also has a high motor.

Kings need all of that in Third line Center.

Agreed! 100%. He would excel there. He's a catlyst too and a playmaker.

Iv'e thought about that and wondered why it hasn't been tried, really. Size maybe? But he's good on the boards considering. It's well worth an experiment though, it's not like he's scoring a ton off the wing.

It most likely is due to him creating a lot on his side of the ice. He is one of the few very good fore-checkers the Kings have. That creates a lot of puck time for Kopitar/Brown. Iafallo makes all those little neat plays that go unnoticed.

I think the issue is that Kopi is notoriously difficult to play with. They may be concerned with breaking up a line that has shown success. Even if Iafallo isn't putting up points, Kopi and Brown have been.

They need to mix things up, because line 2 and 3 are not working. Kempe still gets crap, but very few are finishing. Maybe Alex at 3C could set up Kempe and Luff some.
Would probably be a very good line. Kempe actually scored 15 NHL goals last year. Still have hopes he can get there again.

Kempe Iafallo Luff
