Very impressive road trip. If Silovs didn't have a rough night in PIT (tho it wasn't all on him) we could easily be looking at 11/12 points.

I'm starting to get excited about this team with the way Pettersson/DeBrusk have taken off. We did not have that extra layer of offense last season when Petey was stuck lugging Mikheyev around. Once JT & Brock are back in action together we could be a very dangerous team.

Going to need to add a top 4D man for sure, but I'm very excited about what this team could be when healthy.

Reffing has been a joke for all teams for years now. I've got a theory that their job is to keep the game as close as possible and give teams every chance they need to get back into hockey games.

They keep fans engaged till the end. The amount of make up calls and trying to make it appear fair on the score sheet is a joke.

A team can be up 2-0 and the team with 0 goals could take a blatant penalty, refs will ignore it. The next play the team up 2-0 can breathe of the opposing player and get called for it. Its become a micky mouse league.

This game made me drink more than I should have and it prob shows in my response. I'm pissed the f*** off at the shit reffing.
To a degree, I agree. Game management bs (lauded often by the flaks announcing the games and the press) is often a fall back for refs letting a game, such as this one, get out of control. Don't call an obvious penalty going one way, so they let things go the other way. Soon you have no idea what is a penalty and what isn't.

Maybe, not so much trying to keep games tight (although that seems a factor) as simply a total inability to be consistent.

Hit on Sherwood every bit as bad as hit on Norris by Hughes. And there was much more intent in it. Miscall there, I (somehow by both refs) led to non-call on Myers and then to the fiasco in OT.

The team is down their best forward; a Vezina-quality goalie; and now their second-best d-man. Yet they go 4-1-1 on the road and keep picking up valuable points.

I see Elliott Friedmann is calling Quinn Hughes for the Hart Trophy. And how can you argue?. He's doing it all for the Canucks right now.

But I worry about him in a game like this......one ugly, head-hunting check from a brutal team like the Wild could compromise his season.

Not going to do the normal game breakdown, need to rant instead.

Hughes got 5 and a game for "boarding" this trip, JEE got an ovation from the fans for something far more malicious & dangerous. No calls in OT despite blatant trips because we have to "let them play" - whether it's by the rules or not, who cares! Couldn't possibly be the refs job to enforce that, and instead we get ticky tacky nonsense called both ways in regulation for fun.

There's a reason this league isn't taken seriously in the US, and it's because the idiots up top refuse to change anything.

How often in basketball do you hear the phrase "oh they're going to get the next foul because they just called 5 the other way." You straight up don't, and while the refs there aren't great, at least the league tries to hold itself accountable with the 2 minute report. Here we get f*** all and get told its just part of the game, it's insane.

Games like today are why I almost stopped watching hockey after 2011, it's just so ridiculous how fans here are gaslighted vs. other sports where changes actually get made when fans get pissed.

Anyways, good on the boys for battling through this road trip, have to be happy with the 4-1-1 record. Hopefully reinforcements are on the way with Miller & Demko soon.

Agree with Orcatown. Sasson looks great. I'll go as far as to say he's been our best callup from the AHL this season.

Had a feeling from his fantastic camp he'd be a surprise mainstay. So far, he's assured himself a spot in the lineup. Kid looks like a solid fourth liner with possibly third line potential if other arenas of his game develop.

I'm so glad they went back to DeBursk and Pettersson. While I get why Tocchet experimented, I always thought he moved away from them too quickly. What's even better is the Boeser looks to have chemistry with Petey again. Which does make me wonder what they'll do when Miller comes back. Hard not to go back with our old pairings but I'd almost like to see:

DeBursk - Pettersson - Boeser
Joshua - Miller - Garland

That isn't a miss it's a non call on purpose refs get paid to do buttmans bidding or gambling or are dumb as f..k pick one

Fun game despite the shit officiating

I wonder what we did to piss off Minnesota, I haven't seen a team play that hard against us in the regular season in awhile. And I've seen Minny play a bit against other teams too, this wasn't a typical game for them lol. Maybe Sherwood got them going with his shit talking? Pretty random and funny but it made for a fun game.

I agree and have thought this for some time - particularly with Petey heating up. The challenges and injuries could be a blessing in disguise. Along with our upgraded forward depth and a top 4 D acquisition before end of year (fingers crossed)... I won't say the rest - let's just say I'm very optimistic!

1. Wild didn't really play them hard... Canucks outshot and outworked them at evens. Probably only Senators was the least impressive opponent on this trip.
2. Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser, and Miller did crush them in the bubble so you got Ek suffering PTSD-rage and charging people dangerously

What a pick-up by Allvin! Had some doubts about Debrusk early on, but can't remember seeing a Canuck so nifty around the net. He gets a stick on everything. The master of the ugly, garbage goal.

That line with Pettersson between Debrusk and Boeser is a legit first line, and currently one of the better ones in the NHL.

Wild are a dirty bunch - also was underwhelmed by how they played.

Expected the Canucks to get blown out tonight

Wild are doing what they always do - get white hot for 30-40 games and fall back into mediocrity. No shade, I need more green jerseys in my life and them not going to round 3 for 20+ years is tragic.

In the post-game Middleton was the interview and he made a comment about how "if they're going to go after our top guys we're going to come back at them even harder."

So maybe there was some chippy stuff directed at Kap? No clue.
