Pretty clear Desjardins is not a fan of Kovalchuk.
This is a rough team. It would be one thing if they started average, then lost a bunch in a row, and gave up. This really did start in pre-season though. They came into the season with zero energy. Even if you're a bad team, you at least start the season with a feeling of hope. They didn't even do that. In 16-17, Colorado at least started 9-9 before finishing the season with 48 points. Even the 16-17 Kings, with Quick out, Budaj in, Kopitar's wrist hurt, and whatever the hell else happened that year, they had 25 points after 22 games. Tied for 11th overall, with a +3 goal differential. I'm not sure I've ever seen a team play this way from day 1 of camp.
