Connor Garland gets his stick and body so low to the ice, that it's almost impossible for a puck to actually slip through him.

At times he plays like the 'flipper' on a pinball machine. I know some fans see Dylan Guenther as the 'one that got away'. But right about now, I'm not sure you'd swap Garland for anyone.

Lankinen continues to stay strong. 2nd goal wasn't great but made enough big saves to make up for it including that one in OT.

What more can you say about Hughes. Constantly pushing the play up the ice and generating in the offensive zone. Looked like he was playing with his food in OT.

Brannstrom has fallen off IMO, needs to continue to make sure he keeps his game simple. That decision in OT to try to beat a defender 1-on-1 after the Canucks were completely dominating possession was asinine. They're trying but the group of 5 collectively below Hughes is just not very good.

Pettersson as well has been a mixed bag after it looked like he was really starting to ramp up. Still strong defensively but simply needs to create and finish more plays.

Boeser hasn't quite been himself since returning but those 2 plays he made today to setup goals is why he's vital to this team's offense. We missed his high IQ and skill. I think it was the right decision to drop Sherwood down and stack the top line; Boeser needs to play with top players.

Outscoring your problems only works if you have a McDavid. This is a system-oriented team and when you have a bunch of guys out you double down on the system.

If Hughes isn't on the ice, this is a below-average offensive team right now. If we try to run-and-gun our season will be over by Christmas.

We are a score-by-committee, hopefully defend-by-committee-and-Lankinen-heroics team right now.

Best bet is to play simple, keep things close every game, get some injured guys back. Last year was found money, this year should be all prep work for the playoffs. Obviously need at least another top 4 D, but the rest is about perfecting the style of play for the post season.

With every 'bend but don't break' win on the road, the Canucks are buying themselves some time in the overall standings until everyone is back.

But that's what the good teams tend to do. They rely on their system to get them though rough patches when they're hit with injuries to key guys.

If they can even split the next two games in Detroit and Minnesota, then it'll be a wildly successful six-gamer on the road--one of their longest of the year.

Won’t be surprised to see Hogs traded. He’s had a miserable first quarter of the season and he knows it. The biggest issue for him isn’t so much that he’s struggling but that guys like Sasson and Bains can draw into the lineup and do what is asked. There are players who want his job and can get his job.

They are second pt% in the division. That’s more than hanging in.

Ya we're not in bad shape. Unless one of the teams below us gets hot, Calgary would likely drop off and replaced by Edmonton. I'm not sure which direction the Kings are going so one of the top 3 spots in the Pacific is in play.

I think we all expected Pius Suter and Connor Garland to lead the team in goals this year, but it will be nice when our secondary scorers like Miller, Boeser and Pettersson really start contributing.
