GDT: GM#21 LA Kings vs Vegas Golden Knights@5:00pm

3-6-1 in their last 10, or 7 out of a possible 20 points.

They've hit their winter skid pretty early this year.

Two days off before they play Winnipeg on Wednesday, then another back-to-back against division rivals Arizona and Anaheim on Friday and Saturday.

Seems like the Kings give away points to division rivals like candy. Of late, you can't even get a consistent performance out of each period from this team.

I feel like the Kings are a contestant on Press Your Luck and keep getting whammies despite yelling out No Whammies repeatedly before.

Was in Vegas for the weekend to see Guns N Roses play at T Mobile Area on Friday. Was planning on catching the Kings tonight, glad I missed the game and went home.

Everyone in the division trending up... except the Oilers. Kings trending down.

Yes he is, but he behaves like a child at times. Id rather he focussed on playing like the norris level dman he is capable of, does breaking your stick make you play better?

That's what I'm saying. He's the most experienced defenseman on the team.

I don't understand why the Kings haven't brought in a coach to work with Jonathan Quick on his handling of the puck. He might be one of the worst goalies in the league there. On many nights he causes more problems than he solves behind the net. If there's one thing that Quick can do to get better as a goalie, it's this. Should have gotten some tips from Bishop last season.

Hextall was around for a while. Not that that was his job, but he's the godfather of puck handling goalies. I'm sure he threw some advice in there.

If Quick has never been good at it, he's probably not going to get better at it in his 30's. Other than simpler is better, sometimes you have a skill, or you don't. Sometimes it's not even the puck handling, but what looks like communication break down. He doesn't know what the d-man is doing, and the d-man doesn't know what he's doing.

Those early goals were very un-Quick like, he looked weak on the first 2. Hopefully they get the losing streaks out of the way already. Its important to get hot in the 2nd half of the year rather than early on. We're really missing Carter, I'm surprised its not mandatory for every player to wear those protective socks around their ankles. Its really f***ing short sighted to leave them exposed like that. Now we have an important player out for a significant amount of time, which could have easily been avoided.

it was my understanding carter was wearing kevlar socks. besides, kevlar isn't cut proof, it's just cut resistant in this application especially. skate blades are sharp and heavy and get kicked around with significant force, they're definitely something that would have the ability to shear a kevlar sock given the right conditions.

agreed about quick though, he just didn't have his head in the game. that 1st one is completely inexcusable, just complete slop. slow into the butterfly, didn't even get the stick down. guess it was bound to happen some time.

Agreed, and I don't think anyone will disagree.

But also consider we just played the best home team in the league at home on the second night of a back to back with Quick's worst night ever and were were still just **** bounces away from tying it up.

It was ugly, don't get me wrong, but this loss is hardly armageddon for me. I was just hoping it would be a great game. That was sabotaged by JQ, and we still battled back

It seems we're racking up a lot of these "moral victories" recently, but not enough real victories.

Quick could be a top 5 goalie if he practiced that, and played a bit more conservatively in his positioning. His over aggressiveness makes him leak a lot of goals.

Quick hasn't been consistent for a while now though which is scary.

Some games he's unbeatable, top 5, and the other half of the time he's your every day goalie.

You can blame every goal on the defense if you wanted, but if you look closely you can see Quick having difficulty making difficult saves now.

I think there's just a lot of confirmation bias going on here. Most of the time Quick handles the puck just fine behind his net. You just remember the times he doesn't.

He might not be Mike Smith lobbing the puck down ice, but generally speaking, Quick has improved immensely with his puckhandling, and he's actually pretty deadly with his hockey sense when he has space in 3v3, he's very aggressive at trying to trap the other team behind a save.

He was. He had on all the proper protection needed to prevent the injury, he got hit in a weird spot at a weird angle. More of a freak injury than anything.
