I don’t know predicted this type of year from Brown. The past few years, it even looked like him and Kopitar no longer had the chemistry they once displayed together, but both have found their games again (thus far). Hopefully they can keep it up for a good bulk of their contract terms.

A lot had to do with Sutter...A LOT!

this team gets grade A opps at such a higher frequency than previous seasons, it's so fun to watch

So that he could lose in the finals to Pittsburgh. Remember that.

He was actually mediocre-to-bad that whole run before being good in the finals so that's all anyone remembers. Edit: in fact, he had a lower sv. % than anything anyone ever used to label Quick a system goalie and overrated, but since Sharks were subject to Niemi before that, just having an average goalie in net made it look like Martin Brodeur incarnate was in net.

He's been an average starter ever since. Playing one great period doesn't erase that. He's a stable goalie with high capability, but people keep acting like we gave up Carey Price circa 2015.

Yup totally. He's a decent goalie for sure, but it's not like we traded Patrick Roy to Colorado.

I think this really shows it was just the Sutter effect. We knew there was nothing physically wrong with Brown, he just simply couldn't produce. It was almost inexplicable, physically ready to go but putting up crappy numbers. I think sometimes we forget the human affect and he simply couldn't or didn't want to play under Sutter. As much as we like to say be a pro and be above the bullshit that comes with being a pro athlete, it's really not as simple as that. Seems pretty clear for now, he and Kopi are enjoying the game again and they are producing because of it. I think anyone who has played a competitive level of sport can associate with this situation. When your are ready to go, and are having FUN, you are at your best.
