Being down Kempe throws everything out of alignment, but the Kings have been piss poor on D for the last handful of games anyway and it continued tonight. Lightning are a top team. Kings are not. But they got time.

Just a real thorough ass kicking by the best team in the league. No big deal. Tampa is really f***ing impressive, fully healthy (I would have loved to see at least Kempe and Carter with them tonight, if not Gaborik), and firing on all cylinders.

Plenty of reasons/excuses for it, but hopefully some real good lessons learned for later, especially for the rookies--see how close the margins for error are vs. the best teams in the league. You'll get DESTROYED if you lose attention to detail at all, like when Budaj made the great save on Kopitar and Kucherov smartly snuck away.

Couldn't buy a bounce, not that we deserved them--but Kopitar two posts and out vs. Namestnikov post and in kinda sums up the bounces/fortune lately.

Curious to see how we lose a goal next game, hopefully we get a main board thread for it, since it's SJ!

Played against the best team in the NHL with a center depth of Kopitar, Amadio, Shore, and Laich. Was to be expected; I'm not worried about the loss.

4:38 for Amadio. Other than MacDermid being thrown out of the game against the Ducks, Amadio has the 2 lowest ice times for the season, in the last 2 games. He wasn't supposed to play tonight, but why is he here? He plays less than Brodzinski and Auger on average.

As an aside I LOVE what Tampa is doing with their minutes. 7 d-men and 11 forwards and minutes are spread very evenly with precious few exceptions. Hedman took the 'crazy' load at 22. I think that bodes well for their season-long prospects as you keep guys fresh.

Meanwhile, Drew Doughty has played nearly 100 minutes in the last 3 games, which will not end well. Stevens is not being smart with his usage.

Edit: especially if you want to break in a rookie like MacD, that's a great way to do it without f***ing up all the other minute spreads

i really don't care for that kind of usage. like he may as well be in the press box. at some point you gotta cut the crap with line matching and double shifting and play what you got when you're this shorthanded.

Meh. Couldn't buy a break, whatever. The Kings took it to TB for a lot of that game, it was a 2 minute stretch that killed them. On to the next one. They need to play better but they were far from a disaster.

The more I look at the replay the more I scratch my head at the waved off goal. If two guys are battling at the side of the net and the goalie can't get over to play the puck after a save because of the battle, then there will a lot of goals waved off.

How could Brown and Sutter not even see eye to nose at least? Where has this Brown been? For 4 years, outside of moments here and there, where was he?

That type of stuff would've got him benched and put on the 4th line for a week. Creativity was always followed by punishment under Sutter. I truly believe he knocked the confidence right out of him.
