GDT: GM #15 LA Kings vs Anaheim Ducks @7:00pm Freeway Faceoff Edition!

Kind of a must win game considering we also have TB next...divisional game against a reeling rival that always plays us well. Aside from the most important game (7) I can't remember a real blowout game between us two.

I like that Stevens sounded pissed at him too, because we know he's a soft-spoken and pretty nice guy to all the players, so it's meaningful when he does lose his shit on someone.

I feel for them, we've been there and we're currently halfway there haha. But have to kick them while they're down. Even their GM said "no one is going to feel sorry for us." It's good for them as they get to see what they have in some of their youngsters so it's not a total wash.

how would you desribe the rivalry between lak and the ducks? i'm far away but i'm always looking forward for their games, next to chicago and san jose.

Lukewarm at best. A lot of the players know each other and even hang out. There's no hatred at all, even after the playoffs. The entire squad stayed on and tapped sticks for Teemu, even after we blew them out in game 7.

Plus Ducks fans are rarely the rabid type, so there's that. All my friends with Ducks tickets sell them when the Kings come to town because the prices go up and they don't want to deal with us. Kings fans are like the Mongol invaders at the Honda. It's a nice, cultured place with marble, nicely painted walls, and well-appointed suites and facilities. We come in, drink their ale, then yell and harass them no matter the score. They just look at us like we are heathen, and who cares if they are right? The fans don't even dislike us, we just annoy the crap out of them.

Is Zatkoff actually the backup tonight? That makes all four goalies dressing American. I have to wonder if that's ever happened before in an NHL game. Anyone know? I'm going to check the ol' History of Hockey board to see if they can help me out.

Kings need to win this. It sucks for the Ducks but this is sports. Other teams did not show the kings mercy last season when there were so many injuries.

Kings need to crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women.

JS needs to start playing McDermid, Folin and Fatty-something more or trade for another dman. I'm getting blackhawks vibes with the amount of ice time the top 4 is getting.

Coaches get paranoid with points on the line. The only positive is that Drew's ice time is down overall, being picked up by the 2nd pairing. The 3rd pairing makes errors, but they are still good enough to play in a tight game.
 
You know what's odd? As someone who's hated the ducks a lot, I have always had great respect for their team. And my respect has only grown since in our division, our core pretty much grew together at the same time. So as time has gone by, I respect them the most out of everyone in the Western Conference. We've pretty much grown together.

So it does suck to see their injury woes.

Kings, Ducks, and Sharks fans go at each other pretty hard at times, but the moment someone from out of state says anything bad about any team or player, I've seen Ducks and Sharks fans jump in front of the bullet a lot. Mutual respect from watching lots of games from both teams, from all teams being relatively successful and going head to head, and dealing with the usual east coast and canadian media snobbery together.

No one gives my little brother wedgies but me!

Exactly, i don't give a shit about the flames, oilers, or whatever obscure team is in our division or the next. The Sharks and Ducks are the teams I hate but respect them and their fans greatly.

No f***ing flames fan or oilers or whatever team gets away with insulting a California team.

Its weird, I hate the ducks but respect them a lot too. So a lot of love and hate for their team and fans. A lot of good people.

But man, if a flames fan says something.. Watch out. Lol. I've attacked a lot of flames fans for talking shit about the ducks lol.

No one out of states talks shit about my rivals except us lol.


I've noticed them defend our team too.
 
The rivalry on the ice might be lukewarm (what rivalry these days isn't?) but its a fun game to be in the stands for due to the significant support for both teams.

Ducks and Sharks fans were mainly the only ones to give the kings respect in the playoff predictions threads and think the kings were going to make it in.

I still think the ducks will pull it together and make the playoffs. I have too much respect for what they've done and their players.

Lukewarm? This is from last season alone.





 
I'm surprised Perry's fall from grace offensively doesn't get talked about more by Kings fans. His contract is going to hinder the Ducks until it ends, guy hits 30 and all of the sudden can't score points. No points on the PP this season.
 
What will Mike Milbury acknowledge he's a tool and mistaken about the kings. Or will he stick with his "fluke proclamation".
