NEWS/NOTES
  • The Anaheim Ducks lost to the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in a shootout Saturday night. Corey Perry scored the lone goal for the Ducks that night. Ryan Miller was between the pipes. Sharks gave up the early goal, but controlled the Ducks throughout the night and eventually broke down the ducks defense and came from behind to defeat the Ducks in a shootout.
  • Injuries are the main headline when talking about the Anaheim Ducks. After being eliminated by the Nashville Predators in 6 games in the Western Conference Finals, the Ducks learned that Ryan Kesler, Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen would all be out injured well into the season. And to add insult to injury(pun intended) Ryan Getzlaf and Cam Fowler have both picked up injuries recently.
  • Rickard Rakell has had to shoulder the weight of losing Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler to injury and currently leads the ducks in points 5 goals and 4 asssists in 14 games so far.
  • The LA Kings lost to the Nashville Predators in overtime 4-3. The Kings did however make a massive 3rd period comeback with goals coming from Alex Iafallo (YAY), Christian Folin and Alec Martinez.
  • The Kings went 2-2-1 against the Ducks last season, but the Kings will look to take advantage of the Ducks injuries to centers Ryan Kesler and Ryan Getzlaf.

Need to take advantage of those Duck injuries and put another notch in the win column

Nice little article about DD's tendency to lose his shit
There might not be a more passionate player in the NHL than Drew Doughty. There are few players who wear it on their sleeve more than the Kings defenseman.
But he’s also one of the NHL’s most well-known talkers — to the officials, and he can’t help it.
“I know what that fine line is,” Doughty said. “I just don’t do it. Selfish on my part, really.”
That sometimes spills over like it did last Saturday when Doughty was given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for complaining to the referees. Doughty was upset over several plays, including an apparent trip that wasn’t called.
“I feel really bad when I do it every time,” Doughty said. “I go home and I think about it and I feel terrible. But I just get so competitive. I kind of lose it sometimes. I can’t control it. I’m not going to argue with the ref if I think he made the right call. But if he doesn’t make the right call, and I question him and he kind of gives me some kind of answer back, then I’m going to get mad too.”

I had a dream Gaborik was back and Carter was way ahead of schedule.
It's the Ducks, so no mercy. I wanna see them get destroyed in their weakened state.

Whoa Getzlaf had surgery and might be out for two months. Really not looking good for them.

It's early, and the division doesn't appear to be very competitive, but if this keeps up it's almost going to be a throw-away season for them. They are hanging in there, but who knows how long that will last. I don't feel sorry for them, but I think Kings fans can relate to the effects of injuries.

It's really bad timing for them as their key guys aren't getting any younger.

oh wow i thought they were calling getz day-to-day, they must have discovered the fracture late or something, that's bad news for them. kesler is out a couple months too so they're gonna be short for a while

gotta take advantage while we have the chance
