I wonder if Allvin/JR could’ve sat down with Bruce before mutually agreeing to renew his contract, like Gillis did with AV with an “adapt or die” speech. Telling Bruce their vision for more analytics based coaching and a longer leash for young players to play through mistakes and have their development be a primary focus.

With the understanding that if Bruce is aligned with this vision, he’d be offered a fair extension after this season.

And if Bruce seemed to push them back on it, they make the hard decision last spring/summer to walk away.

Bruce already had a signed contract, Rutherford did say in his introduction that he approved of Bruce's hiring, that the owner contacted him about it before Rutherford decided to take the job.

It sounds like they did that? There was a ton of talk about improved breakouts etc. and what they wanted from the team during the summer.

NHLPA dictates how long the training camp lasts. If the players didn't "get it", the new system in the short camp allowed then they have had over a month to work it out now. I think Bruce is saying that over and over again, "we show them, we tell them, we practice it, continually"

They just don't have the right mix of players, the skill level is not really that high overall. Sure there are a few exceptions but not close to a playoff team, as a whole they have been losing together too long.

your only loyalty is to winning, except in very rare circumstances like you have two legends in the sedins (even though that excuse in that context was bullshit given every report was that the sedins were ok with a rebuild but management/ownership did not want it so they but sedin’d - im more speaking generally.

Win some games for a few years consecutively before you start making demands.

They fired the point of liaison bw the analytics department and Bruce within a week of giving her that role.

IMO Sens come out and win, time change and bad 3rd periods seem to be the Canucks kryptonite.

Yup.

I’ve wondered the same too, but it seems pretty clear that the bizarre roster decisions are coming from Bruce.

Management can’t be thrilled about the TOI for Podkolzin/Hoglander/Rathbone.

We probably wont ever know unless we work there. But all the talk in the media about the Canes wanting hoglander, and management does not want to move him and is high on him.

Meanwhile bruce has him bouncing in and out, and up and down the lineup and back to the press box. I just cant see management suggesting that forcing bruce to do that.

The other thing is when bruce was hired a few minny fans came here complaining how bruce is old school and likes to play and gives preference to tougher veterans. Fiala's name kept coming up how he could not make a mistake under bruce. You see this with old school coaches in the nhl, we seen it with Willie D where they seem to have favorites. Pearson is often out as an extra attacker 6 on 5, that has to be a bruce call.
