I dont think thats the case.

Very weird because rutherford just confirmed everyone has to stay in there own lane, and coach decides who is in the lineup on his 650 interview. Of course im sure some wont believe him.

Before that though, everything I heard is management wants rathbone up and a chance to play, bruce is not playing him. Unfortunately I think most of this is coaching staff decisions.

Yup.

I’ve wondered the same too, but it seems pretty clear that the bizarre roster decisions are coming from Bruce.

Management can’t be thrilled about the TOI for Podkolzin/Hoglander/Rathbone.

At this point, you can definitely suggest the bizarre decisions are an intentional attempt at sabotaging prospect/rookie development. Bruce knows he's a lame duck who is only getting further criticized by management in the open. He's not thinking about 2023/2024.

Rathbone is playing tonight. Podkolzin has been poor, so no mystery why he's been losing ice.

A huge part of the coach's job for a team in our situation is player development and generating improvement from the younger guys on the roster. Boudreau has simply not been able to do that.

What makes this so bizarre is that’s how the team found success when he initially came on. He did exactly what needed to be done with Pettersson and Podkolzin.

This organization as a whole isn't really doing "development" right now. More like throw guys in there and see what works. I mean, who's development are we exactly supposed to be excited about right now across the entire org.

Garland-Horvat-Podkolzin
Kuzmenko-Pettersson-Mikheyev
Pearson-Miller-Boeser ????

I'd go with something like

Garland - Horvat - Pearson
Kuzmenko - EP - Podkolzin
Mikheyev - Miller - Boeser

really want to see Pods on that line.

He's also on an expiring contract with a playoff mandate, most coaches in that position would be pretty impatient with younger players.

Why is boeser being rushed back? I guess he needs the conditioning but god he looked awful early on.

Rathbone, brisbois, hell even burroughs playing his off side.

I don’t really care
Just get Riley to the press box.

Also Drance/Farhan indicated sitting Garland did not go over well with the locker room or management so I figure that is also contributing to BB not delving into the well of scratching vets since that.

Pivotal road trip here (to put it lightly)...If they blow it, thats pretty much season down the drain...A few things have to happen on this road trip.
-Both goalies have to find their A game...Like, immediately...If the Canucks falter this season, you could look back at this as a factor.
-The PK needs to improve by leaps and bounds
-The team has to not lose focus, especially in 3rd periods..The book on the Canucks is to keep chipping away at them if they have the lead..and they will eventually crack...The inability to close out hockey games is the big elephant in the Canucks room.
-The teams best players have to be their best players...Fortunately, most of the forwards are..Unfortunately, the D and goalies are struggling.

My guess as to how they'll do on their eastern swing is as good as anybody's...They could surprise, and come home with a winning record...Conversely, they could find a way to lose every game, and I don't think that would come as surprise either...At that point Boudreau will be relieved, and we can start talking about the 2023-24 season.

I want Boeser to do well tonight. I know he's not the favorite around here right now, and his recent play doesn't give him a lot of leeway, but he's a personal favorite of mine.

4-3 canucks win - Petey, Miller, Boeser, Oel

To be very clear, I also want Boeser to do well. I don't personally dislike him or anything remotely like that. If he could turn back into the player he was several seasons ago, that would be amazing. I hope it happens.

But based on what I've seen from him over the last 3+ years, I don't think it's terribly likely.

Because he never has done that. Boudreau is not a development coach and to be fair not every coach needs to excell or even be good at that aspect. He is the perfect "make it in at any cost" coach though which seems to be whats wanted of him. Management should realize this and send the young guys down until they can come back and prove it to him (or hes gone).

Not arguing that at all. He's a poor development coach. He was a great 'right the season' coach last year.

A new GM should be able to hire his preferred coach. It's a backward situation that was never going to turn out well.

It would be pretty funny if the person coming out for Rathbone is Bear.

I’m not a Boeser hater either and I’d be 100% happy to see him regain his form. But man we have looked noticeably slower and less engaged with him in recently.

I wonder if Allvin/JR could’ve sat down with Bruce before mutually agreeing to renew his contract, like Gillis did with AV with an “adapt or die” speech. Telling Bruce their vision for more analytics based coaching and a longer leash for young players to play through mistakes and have their development be a primary focus.

With the understanding that if Bruce is aligned with this vision, he’d be offered a fair extension after this season.

And if Bruce seemed to push them back on it, they make the hard decision last spring/summer to walk away.

Not a chance Bear is coming out.

It will most likely be Stillman, and we will have a Rathbone-Myers pairing..and that pairing has a few red flags as far as I am concerned.

It sounds like they did that? There was a ton of talk about improved breakouts etc. and what they wanted from the team during the summer.
