We should get a stand-up goalie, too.

And go back to wooden sticks, too.

DAE Kirk McLean and King Richard? We made the Finals with those guys playing stand-up.

What do you mean that was 30-40 years ago and the game has changed significantly?
On the sauce hard tonight.

Are you? There's AA meetings for you brother.

Probably before your time. My apologies.

Pettersson started slowly but flicked a switch after the Boeser injury and competed hard. Actually skated to win races to pucks instead of pulling up short and conceding. Looked like he wanted the puck and it's been a long time since you could say that.
I had this exact thought a couple of times tonight.

There are signs of life.

Some of us have better memories than you. Probably due to a lack of physical trauma induced brain damage.

But yeah, Ryan Reaves really helped make the Leafs less of a joke. Just ask him, lol.
The Reavo comment was mostly tongue in cheek. Mostly. But you do you Sassy. You must have been a terror on the tether ball pole back in the day.

Desharnais or Dakota aren't going to send any sort of message to Jeannot. Allvin and Rutherford have a history with this player. Bring him in as the 14th forward. The Leafs don't want him. He can dress for another 20 or 30 games. The whole team would grow two inches. He's still the meanest f***er in the league at 37. He knows the role. Tocchet can manage him. I hope Chief isn't too attached to him. This bullshit didn't happen back in the day. You dealt with Harold, Jack Mac, Chief, Fraser, Cochrane, long before Gino or Donald etc etc....even when Burke had enough of Brash's crap and dealt him he went out and got guys like Langdon and Brookbank and brought May back.

Maybe I'm a Neanderthal but I am sick of no pushback. Have been for 15 years.

Reavo jump on a bird to YVR. Cole McWard and 7th ?

I understand the sentiment and I’m someone who was disappointed that Zadorov left for this reason.

But Reaves is utterly cooked. He’s shit. He’s unplayably bad and has been outscored 33-14 at ES in his last season’s worth or so of games while playing on top teams. Any uptick his toughness would give you is outweighed 10x by the fact that he’ll cost you games with his play on the ice. Vegas or St. Louis Reaves, yeah. He was a great 4th liner. He isn’t now.

If you asked me if I’d be interested in something like a Hoglander-Xhekaj deal, on the other hand …

Agreed. It was pretty tongue in cheek but there's still a place for some pushback in the game much to the dismay of some of the younger fans. Five years ago Reavo is the answer. JackEye is interesting. I just don't think they can turn the other cheek all the time. Take the win, take a number but they need a bit more heft.

Trent Frederic?

The most encouraging thing about this California swing, on top of the three wins, was that for the first time this season you can see where all the new guys will finally fit in.

Debrusk has found a home on the Miller line....and you can see the talent that attracted the Canucks in the first place. And Blueger with Heinen and Sherwood is now an absolute killer third line and extraordinary on the PK.

And on the back end, despite an early hiccup on the Kings first goal, Brannstrom and Desharnais look like they could form a reliable third pairing. And of course Lankinen continues to be all-world.

And actually, it's coming together faster than I thought it would given all the roster changes.
