very good road game

- hronek scored so many pts at the beginning of last season, but i like his play infinitely more now

- hughes is absolute magic, you can’t tell me there’s a better player on the planet

- myers owes tocchet two laps

- with boeser out, i don’t hate debrusk and höglander as a wing duo, although i don’t know that miller is the right C

- petey had a few moments in the first 2/3 of the game (for ex, the drive to the net) and started playing legitimately well starting at the end of the second, although still initiating contact or finishing checks too much for my liking and taking himself out of the play. but i thought for much of the game he was trying too hard to be involved and you’d get all three guys on his line all bunched together. but i think part of the issue is garland and suter are cycle players and petey isn’t.

- also, does it feel to anyone else like quinn is intentionally not passing to petey even when he’s open?

- brannstrom, has this guy gotten a single shot through since he’s been here? in every other respect he’s been a contributor, damn near a revelation relative to what we expected. hopefully he’s spending an extra hour or two every day with gonchar learning how to find openings.

- thought soucy had a nice game for the first time in a while

hope boeser is ok but i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out for a while

Jeannot should realistically be publicly drawn and quartered in a high profile place by Canuck team representatives. I know it seems harsh compared to the societal moral code of 3 days ago, but I get the feeling the times they be a changing. Best to get ahead of the curve and deny after the fact when found guilty.

played two good games this season with only one of our core 4 guys playing well/playing at all and we're 7-2-3.

you take it.

Petey's play that annoyed me the most was near the end when we were defending the 6-on-5 with the puck down low, and he decides to leave his man (Foegele) to crosscheck the King in front of the net, who was already battling with another Canuck. That decision left Foegele wide open, who got the puck with a half empty net and only didn't score because he double clutched it. Trying way too hard to be mean when he doesn't have to be.

Thoughts are with Boeser. Hope he is ok.
Jeannot is a dirt bag POS.
Agreed. BROCK BOESER deserves all the breaks for at least 2 or 3 seasons. Dude has paid the price with steadfast courage, a continued belief in playing the game the right way and focused intent on getting better and being an amazing human and teammate.

Something else I noticed often enough to think it was intentional - Kuemper entangling himself with our forwards, and then holding/trapping them while the Kings’ D hacked, speared and shoved our forwards for “being on their goalie”.

Dirty pool.

Team getting back to the form, they showed last year in terms of structure and cohesion. Hard working effort with no passengers. New players fitting in better. You hope they can build on this.

Good

Hughes - Maybe back on the road to being best d-man, although hard to catch Makar. Another dominant game. Don't know what Clarke (swhose going to be a top end d-man) was trying to prove.

Miller - after the Boeser hit, he picked team up with some excellent shifts. Has had a quieter start to this season (maybe trying to save something) but showed his leadership and skill after the injury.

Myers - could have been first star. A horse in his end. Him and Soucy were critical in this game and blocked a ton of shots.

Lankanin - at this point, might be the biggest surprise in the League. Think we have to believe, this is no mirage. One crucial ability he is showing is that he bounces back fast from a goal. Always ready for the next chance and doesn't let things snowball out of control. Again excellent in this game.

Blueger - what ever line he is put on seems to work. PK work was essential as the team had to overcome some terrible reffing.

Sherwood - keep looking for some flaws in his play to explain why we got this player so cheaply . But finding none. Continues to be one of the strongest forwards on the team.

Garland - said before but repeat - Is he a candidate for Team USA? Don't see why he shouldn't be. And there are still some who want to trade him. Maybe just trolling, but, if serious, these people understand nothing. Same goes for Myers.

Bad

There was one player who had me tearing my hair out but enough has been said about that situation.

Play on Boeser was near criminal. An obvious attempt to injure. In the AHL this type of play would go without mention. Hopefully the NHL does something, not that helps the Canucks. Losing Boeser will hurt both the top line, PP and likely the Cap situation.

One thing that points out how bad the refs were, is that neither immediately called a penalty. If you can't call that a penalty, when everyone else the rink knows, instantly, it was a penalty, you wonder how they can call anything. Just an absurd situation. NHL should be hiring refs with at least miminal intelligence and at least decent eyesight.

Team’s Reaction To Boeser Getting Hit
  • Next man up
  • Guy’s did a nice job filling in
  • Hope Boeser’s okay
Hughe’s Play
  • Controls the play so much
  • Has the puck a lot which is why he’s a great defenceman
Improved Play
  • Less and less odd-man rushes
  • More connected group
  • Lots of different moving parts and they are hanging in there
  • Really proud of the team
Boeser’s Injury
  • Has to take a look at it
  • A dangerous play
  • Hasn’t seen Boeser yet
Miller’s Goal
  • Miller said he wasn’t giving Tocchet any credit for his empty net goal after they practiced it yesterday
  • It’s a hard play to score from there while under pressure
On The Road
  • Were a good road team last year
  • Have to be comfortable playing in a 2-1 hockey game

Desharnais or Dakota aren't going to send any sort of message to Jeannot. Allvin and Rutherford have a history with this player. Bring him in as the 14th forward. The Leafs don't want him. He can dress for another 20 or 30 games. The whole team would grow two inches. He's still the meanest f***er in the league at 37. He knows the role. Tocchet can manage him. I hope Chief isn't too attached to him. This bullshit didn't happen back in the day. You dealt with Harold, Jack Mac, Chief, Fraser, Cochrane, long before Gino or Donald etc etc....even when Burke had enough of Brash's crap and dealt him he went out and got guys like Langdon and Brookbank and brought May back.

Maybe I'm a Neanderthal but I am sick of no pushback. Have been for 15 years.

Reavo jump on a bird to YVR. Cole McWard and 7th ?

I loved that Brandt Clarke exchange with Hughes because not only did Hughes defeat him almost immediately in the hockey play (putting Clarke offsides), Hughes went and got the better of Clarke's goonery by riding him face first in to the board.

you know what's a joke? King's highlight package pretends the dirty hit didn't happen.

dont break up the current third line. the hbk line i know the name was taken by the penguins but this current one is very good at distrutping plays and scoring goals. once joshua comes back ease him in i'd like him alongside petey and garland. make room. that hit on boeser was dirty., great california road sweep. hope jennot gets 10+ games.

We should get a stand-up goalie, too.

And go back to wooden sticks, too.

DAE Kirk McLean and King Richard? We made the Finals with those guys playing stand-up.

What do you mean that was 30-40 years ago and the game has changed significantly?
