Don't advertise that you have a predilection for boring negative takes as an alternative to others "sucking it up" perhaps?

One dimension reactionary takes are so…

We at Canuck boards use inside jokes, clever badgering and of course positivety about the team...for the most part.

you need to always remember that just because you don't notice jokes and clever badgering doesn't mean they are not there.

Colin Q agrees with you. Had a big discussion with him a few months ago.
IMO Myers problem is we miss his up side (pun intended) because it's not as visible (pun intended) when he makes mistakes. Myers has the longest reach in the league and he's very effective with it, he has a blast from the point, has incredible strides in his skating, and blocks shots like a wall.
I'm not sure who's mistake this particular one was because chasing someone behind the net is a definite play and someone is suppose to cover. The other technique is to leave the wannabe office Gretzky in it and have two guys covering each side of the net while the goalie parks himself on the posts with his head on a swivel and wait him out. I don't think going prone and blocking the pass/shot was the right play here. Nevertheless, it worked out. Pass was too hard and was too tricky to handle. Sharks put themselves in this situation. They had to be perfect and lucky. They were lucky.
Anyway, you'll disagree.

I thought about going to this game tonight. I'm not working so I couldn't justify the expense. Bit of a pain trying to watch it too because it's blacked out and I didn't see any local coverage on Sling.

No one is mentioning Blackwood. This game should have been a blowout. It's a miracle it was scoreless after the first and Blackwood kept them in it. He was peppered with shots but kept them in it to mount the charge in the 2nd.
Blackwood gave them the chance. And I hate myself for feeling bad for him.

Sharks in their own zone couldn't stop the Canucks from penetrating and they threw the puck around making plays at will. The one thing the Sharks were able to do is clear the rebounds. Canucks didn't know where to shoot it seems until they picked the high corners. Lankinen was up for the challenge - he ultimately won the goaltending dual.
This lack of team ability was not got enough and they deserved to lose though; Canucks deserved the win but it made me nervous.

Kudos to Petey for looking much stronger and Miller was back to hisself after being abysmal last game. Garland, Suter, and Sherwood were on tears!

I'm not seeing what you're seeing with Myers...good skater? Sure, for a 6'7 gangly dude, he's a very good skater...but that's about where it begins and ends for me. He has a long reach but doesn't use it as effectively as a 6'7 gangly dude should...he is terrible at blocking shots, as evidenced last night on the tying goal...for a guy as big and long as Myers he should be a wall at blocking shots, but he's just not that effective. He's weak on the boards and gets overpowered/out-battled more often than someone his size should. And worst of all, he's just plain inept in the defensive zone...his reads are not good...he's aggressive when he should be passive and passive when he should be aggressive. If he could play 100% of his hockey in the neutral and offensive zones, he'd be a pretty darn good defenseman, but he can't and the coaching staff, for whatever reason, keeps throwing him out there on the PK and at critical times we need to hold a lead...I know the options are limited but his deployment does not reflect a coaching staff that is looking to minimize his usage in a critical role...and for that I've got some real reservations about their decision making.

I hate blackout games here in Dallas too...I went to the last one, and discovered my dislike of crowds outweighs my enjoyment of the game itself...I'll probably go again this year because my co-worker has tickets and wants me to go with him...but all things being equal I'd rather watch from my couch.

So is he “fine” or “playing on a gimpy knee”? It can’t be both.

He earns every bit of heat he gets here, just because you’re unable to see it doesn’t mean it doesnt exist.

He's fine in that there's no reason to bench him. He still one of the top 6 D in on the team even though he is nicked up. That clear it up for you?

A messy game but a win.
the team is a complete mess bleeding odd man rushes and with intermittent passengers galore. any half decent hungry team destroys them tonight.

i am this close to speculating about what is going on.
That was SJ doing that too.
Speculating? It is the time for that.
Despite our "horrendous" start, we are 3rd in points, and 2nd in pts % in our division.

And we have so much room for improvement. The new players will be gellin', and our top 6 are just starting to rev their engines.
At the start of the EASY season all teams are within a few points, right now two points separate the Canucks from 12th to 27th in the league.
They have had one of the easiest schedules so far.
Some comments about ep40 being back but on that go ahead goal shift I still thought he was hesitant or safe in his play. Just ring arounds or banks to the d. Garland had it momentarily behind the net and Petey slow to jump into a hole. By the time he got going, was too late. It worked out with Suter getting the go ahead but where are those days of ep40 breaking ankles?? That’s the guy we need and the bar we’re looking for him to return to, not just middling shifts of keeping it alive in the o zone.
That the positive comment about EP is even made indicates how bad his game is, the same could be said of over half the team.

Allvin and Tocchet have put Myers in a no win situation. He now has to take up the hitting role that Zadorov carried and AGAIN has had his ice time increased.
With the lack of talented defensive depth it puts MORE pressure on him to play outside what is his comfort zone.
Zadorov played with all the defencemen and on both sides. He was not perfect but was a stabilizing force and I do mean force. Players on the other team had their heads spinning around looking for him, Myers is not that guy and Soucy has to be careful due to concussions, Forbort is too slow and Deharnais has warts in his game, but he can hit but only playing 10 minutes a game.

The odd man rushes will be a problem.

I don't necessarily agree that Myers is in a "hitting role" now, he's always been a moderately physical player, but I don't think anyone is being asked to be more physical than normal...for whatever reason, he's just always been granted a larger defensive role than he's been capable of managing effectively...and that's really on the coaching staff. He's played 1000+ games, if they haven't figured out he's not a good defender and penalty killer at this point, I'm not sure they ever will. My bet is that he does well at it in practice, he has the right attitude, understands the concepts the coaches are putting forward and works hard...but just isn't good at it when the pressure of the game is on him. He's going to be a problem for the team as long as he doesn't have competition for his job, or coaches who don't hold him accountable like they do for other bottom pairing defenseman.

Toffoli was solid along the boards and was great on their 6-5, high IQ terrific possession player, would’ve been nice to have him.
