It's not a barn burner of a move or anything but I like the experience he brings.
Good. Not expecting a repeat of Heinen, but any offensive help this team can get will be welcome. Johnson has some skill, a lot of experience, a little zip. Cheap. Essentially a free hit. Hopefully he can do some good things for us.

Even with a couple nice wins, I still think they looked quite snake bitten, especially last night's game where they missed way too many empty nets to keep the Kraken in the game.
We got a bit lucky since a good team is going to capitalize on those missed opportunities and make you pay, so I think adding a bit more "finesse" (not sure I can say skill here) in TJ is a good move right now. Hopefully he fits in well

The reality is, in a hard cap world, you make moves like this, hoping to find this year’s Danton Heinen.
Will it make a difference?
Probably not.
But if you can squeeze 12 goals out of him, any helps stabilize the middle six forward group, there is value to be had there.

I'm not sold on Potsy as an impact guy down the road.
He absolutely has the work ethic and drive but there are times where he looks lost. Basically a better Frederic. I think a lot of the hype comes from the fact our prospect system is so barren guys like him are elevated when in reality they're probably a B level guy in a deeper system. Similar to Beecher.
Still early since he hasn't even played 50 games at the pro level, but idk. I do think he'll have a long career with how hard he works his ass off though.

Pasta spoke and said he was practicing today working on his game so we are safe.Adding Johnson is solid at that price.He can pot a few and hopefully they are big ones.
Johnson got not insignificant ice time in Chicago on what was a really bad team, doubly so when they lost Taylor Hall for the season and then lost Bedard for a stretch and actually didn't do too bad given a) he hit the decline wall hard after multiple hand/wrist injuries and b) chicago was really, really bad.

at this rate 17 G might be good enough for second on the team by season's end. Honestly a really, really solid add for the price.

Tyler Johnson is a veteran presence with a wealth of playoff experience.
He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion.
As noted previously, he scored 17 goals on a dreadful Blackhawks club last season.
Yes he is 5 ft 8, and he is 34.
Yet, in my view, which is hardly expert, he is a young 34 who can still skate and make smart plays.
He is signed to a one-year, cheap deal.
Best of all, he is versatile.
He can play right wing, left wing "and center.*
He provides depth.
Potentially, Johnson may prove a significant, positive addition.
There is nothing at all, nothing, not to like about this deal.
If it doesn't work out, the Boston Bruins simply move on.
No harm, no foul.

What this kinda reminds me of is what you see a lot in baseball with minor league deals.
It feels like a couple times in a season you'll hear some relatively unknown reliever get a minor league deal that nobody really thinks anything of. said reliever comes in and is a way bigger add then people thought and helps with a team's bullpen and then either helps them make a push or gets flipped at the trade deadline which realistically still helps.
That's what this is. Does it make the Bruins stanley cup champions on paper? Absolutely not. (although...) But is this an add where even if it's ever so slight, it's still a net positive? I would say yes.
On a positive note as well, Max Jones gets sent to the AHL gulag which myself and i'm sure many others are very happy to see.
