I know some NYR fans bash Sam and Joe but they are so much better than the ESPN announcing crew imo.
They are better. However they also do the thing McDonough does, which is to tell anecdotes or spout useless "stats" during game action, when they should be doing play-by-play.

Also imo Sam & esp Joe do a certain kind of company-approved narrative spewing, which I don't hear so much on the national broadcast.

But yes. McDonough is not a good hockey PBP man. Perhaps he could be, but he isn't now. Kenny & Bob Wichusen (and the Canadians and others) are much more enjoyable. McDonough I have to mute.

Kakko needs to step it up. We would be really tough to beat if the 3rd line played as well as they did when Kakko came back from his injury.
yeah at least that line isn't a liability but they need to get some stuff on/in the net

Let's see what's on TV...

Do Something, Kakko! - Pilot
NEW (5/8/24) S1 E1 - Kaapo's mechanic steals his car while he faces an awkward dilemma at the rink; Alexis and Filip hatch a scheme to sell defective sporting goods.

Yeah, I'll watch.

We can banter about who comes out of the lineup, who needs to step up, and what they need to do to win games, but at the end of the day...

6 wins and 0 losses. Enjoy the shit out of this guys.

Every year we've watched this team it's taken 10, 11, or sometimes 12 games for this team to get to 6 wins. They've won 6 playoff games in a row!

The 13-14 team won 5 in a row (3 vs Pitt, 2 vs MTL) and I never thought I'd see that again. Idc that Washington was trash in comparison, you usually lose at least a game in a series.

First-world problems.

I just want the respect. Most of the year we heard things like they’re the Fugazi’s or they'll be hitting the links after round 1. Just want these fans and commentators to put some respect in our name. Whether they win it all or not, this has been a damn good hockey club this season.

I couldn’t care less about what others think. I want the Cup!!!!

I really enjoy Sam and company. Yes Sam makes some mistakes or gets over enthusiastic at times. That is part of what makes Sam Sam. I wouldn't change a thing. Perfection isnt all it is craked up to be. Laughing at Sams goofs is part of his greatness. I couldn't think of a single guy I would rather do the Ranger games.

They are better, yes, but Joe is awful with Sam. Sam without Joe is SO much better.
I like Joe. I liked JD. I liked Espo. I liked Bill Chadwick. I feel spoiled by 5 decades of great colorful good guys.

I mean, Skjei gave a light cross check shove to Tro (would NOT have been called) which sent Tro off balance, then also clipped his skate with his stick which ended up tripping him. What's the god damned issue with that call? Did we complain about the blatant penalties Trouba took? No, we bashed the penalty taker! Is the issue that we won? Probably. What a wet blanket they are.

Also for the first time the ESPN broadcast brought new info to the table that seems legit. Usually they blow every playoff goalie like they're the second coming of Roy but they mentioned how Anderson struggles finding pucks in his feet and tracking rebounds. Go figure, we scored our last 2 goals like that.

Oh yea, and Panarin, while not controlling play every shift, had a few high danger chances in the slot he created himself which he didn't score on but came close. That OT chance he danced his way into the slot for and then shot it back far side, he was trying to lift it above the pad but below the blocker, one of his favorite targets, but was juuuust off balance enough he couldn't get it high enough.

Trouba has instead been suspended one game for Andrei Svechnikov's hit on Igor Shesterkin.

lol

To be honest I'll be perfectly fine with Svech getting absolutely trucked from here on out. The leg clip on Shesty was one thing, but not long after he made a point to cut through the crease and hip check a down Shesty in the head.

Bill Chadwick is my all-time favorite!! He was in the booth when I started watching so he taught me a lot about hockey, filling in with what my mom and dad knew.

Kvetch has been a real POS so far. He's got it coming.

Svechnikov has always played dirty and gotten away with it because players don't just jump and beat the shit out of other players these days and he knows he'll never be forced to own up to the shit he does

Losing battle. Even if the Rangers win it all there would be some thread like "worst team ever to win a cup?"

Enjoy the ride and hopefully the destination, not how others interpret it.

Yeah, I'll watch.
Episode 2 "Can't Buy Me Rizz" - A struggling Kaapo sees Seth doing drugs during their hockey game. Filip and Alexis try to help their friend by convincing the only kid on their team with a mustache, Vinnie, to buy pills from a gas station claiming to help you "score every time." Hilarity ensues when Emily starts wearing animal prints to their games and Kaapo can't hide his excitement.

Minor Spoiler: Look for Cale Makar and Wyatt Johnston in a hilarious, but brief cameo late in the episode.

Friday on ABC's TGIF

Trouba was definitely trying to hit Necas with his elbow. It was up before Necas ducked.

Trouba is extremely dirty. It's ok to admit it. I just don't care anymore. It's liberating.
Elbow attempt and then kicked him in the dome. Just an embarrassing abomination of a player. Most of the worlds problems would be solved by him not existing
