This team is firing on every cylinder right now. Everyone is pulling in the same direction. Two backbreakers at the end of periods that would have normally sunk some recent NYR teams, and these guys consistently claw their way back. This team devours adversity for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Love to see Laffy get 2, and Tro's winner was a thing of beauty.

As far as Chytil, I'm far less confident than a lot of you guys that he can seamlessly step back into a game and be effective after missing basically the entire season. Obviously if the doctors/coaches/team/Chytil's camp all feel that he's in gameday shape, you can't really argue against swapping out Rempe.

Game 1, I could see, if you want to look at it from an absolutist lens and ignore the respective PP time.

Game 2, at worst, was even. We went chance for chance with a chance-generating team, and outchanced them.
Marek opened the discussion by saying "Wouldn't you agree that although the Rangers are up 2-0 in the series, that they've been outplayed in both games" and then all the talk was about the penalties.

And I chuckled when Marek started to praise Igor and Friedman cuts him off and is like "Andersen too!" Andersen was fine, made some good saves, but he was 35/39 4 GA for an .897 sv% and lost the game. Igor was 54/57 .947% and won the game. Wtf are you doing cutting in to basically equate the two performances?

Trouba's elbow went up because his head was about to go through the glass. What's he supposed to do? Take it on the chin?
The amount of mainstream media I've seen calling that an intentional elbow and intent to injure is laughable. Trouba had him lined up, Necas fell down, Trouba flies over him and adjusts his positioning mid air to compensate. That's not trying to hit someone with your elbow, he wasn't leading with it - it was tucked and only came out when he had to adjust last second because Necas fell down. That was not even remotely close to intent to injure, sometimes it's staggering how out of touch media members are. Even if he clipped him with the elbow, it still CLEARLY would've been an accidental reactionary play.

He’s on a line with Cuylle and Wennberg, what the hell do you expect? Let’s see what happens when / if Chytil is reinserted first.
Cuylle and Wennberg were noticeable last night in a good way. Wennberg helped create the first goal with terrific puck control and pass. He should be the most talented player on that line. He looks like the least effective.

Everything from politics to sports always has to be a horse race. It's so dumb. Just be honest to the viewers. We don't need to pretend that everything is razor thin.

carolina was "better" in game 1 because they were down multiple goals for most of the game and had to push. a trailing team will almost always look "better" because they have nothing left to lose. despite that, they generated almost nothing until the very end of the game.

Trocheck played almost two games worth of hockey in 1. I say give him a rest thursday and insert Chytil or Brodz................................................................................. Just Kidding

Keep doubting them. There’s literally nothing the rangers can do to earn the respect of the masses. Might as well embrace it

Gus was excellent last night
Yeah he has been sort of a halfway point between early season good Gus and late season bad Gus which suits me just fine for now.

I like what Jones has done in the last 40 games but I’m not gonna force him in when things are going well.

Soccer kick to the guys head was a nice touch

But like how did you stomach listening to those donks?

Im sure people have mentioned it but roslovic is extremely noticeable and driving play games 1&2
Indeed. I think there are a few of reasons for it.
1. Laviolette got through to him that his compete level needs to match that of his teammates. The Rangers are not the Columbus Blue Jackets. And whatever Roslovic did for those 10-15 games of crap before being healthy scratched was unacceptable. This doesn't really relate to his performance just in this series, but also the playoffs in general.

2. He needed time to learn the breakout/transition system. The Rangers have a unique style coming out of their end and through the neutral zone. When it works, it's great to watch. But to me it seems complex. So it would be understandable that it would take time before it gets instilled into his hard drive. Roslovic seems to be better in transition than grinding along the wall.

3. The matchup. It's almost like the Hurricanes have been caught off guard by his speed coming up the ice into the offensive zone. The Canes play up-tempo, but didn't expect the Rangers to give them a dose of their own medicine. Roslovic was the biggest factor in that aspect. Especially in OT last night. He seemed to be the freshest player on the ice and hopefully he has the same jump and conviction going forward.

He's been much more Good Jack than Bad Jack, He GOTS to keep doing it.

He was just incredulous about what a dumb ass play Trouba made to start the whole sequence
I agree Trouba had a brutal game and that turnover was egregious. And I'm on Trouba as much as many of you, but we're falling for confirmation bias if we think that goal was 100% Trouba's fault. You can't leave your man alone in the slot. I get we were in scramble mode after the turnover, but that was clearly Gus' man to cover and he wasn't paying attention.

"Should've kept Copp and Strome." Said by literally nobody. (Okay fine, there were probably knuckleheads that did say that. They know who they are and must live with their stupidity.)
I’ll own up to the being in the should’ve kept Copp crowd, although when they acquired Trochek I wasn’t mad about it. I thought of it as a lateral move.

I wanted Strome gone more than anybody.

And even despite that, at one point in the 3rd period they were on pace for their lowest SOG total of the season.

Carolina has scored 6 goals this series

3 deflections (one super flukey off Laf)
1 6 on 5 scramble
1 Necas breakaway
1 Guentzel one timer

For all the talk about how good their team is, they have 2 goals that are a direct result of skill and not crazy luck.

They have to work twice as hard as us to score.
