As bad as expected. Just have to pray we get lucky with a pick that's multiple years away to get any value for a franchise player who we never should have needed to trade in the first place.

What a massive failure by Fletcher. His legacy will be turning a team on the rise into a bottom 5 team and getting rid of Giroux, Voracek, and Ghost in an 8 month span. You can't lose that much skill and hope to compete, especially when you bring back nearly nothing in return.
What do you mean nothing. 5 more years of Fisto, the hits, and Columbus Hockey Dads irrational takes! Who needs a Stanley Cup anyway?

If nothing else, this trade serves as a great litmus test for those who understand relative value and leverage versus those who neurotically will make everything that Fletcher does a conspiracy-level rambling about the doings of the organization. And I say that as someone who wants Fletcher fired and the house cleared.

Bunnaman and Rubtsov were dumped to open up two contract slots this year. No loss.
It's about as good as you could get once it was known G preferred Florida, Chuck wasn't going to screw G for a better deal.
If Chuck could have shopped G, he might have gotten the kind of deal people think should have been the price, but that wasn't possible.

Tippett has value, Flyers might play him for a year, see how Foerster progresses, then flip Tippett.

Wheeler 2021:

3. Owen Tippett, RW/LW, 21 (Florida Panthers)

Tippett’s going to drive people crazy and either never put it together or eventually figure it all out and be a really, really good NHL goal-scorer. There’s a great deal of power to his shot, his skating, and his overall strength on the puck, which are complemented by quick hands. He’s got the natural gifts needed to score and create chances inside the offensive zone. But a reliance on a playmaker to get him the puck and wavering consistency have thus far held him back from realizing his potential as a middle-six scorer and power play threat.

It’s very frustrating that the Flyers had to add to G to get this deal done. Not getting a better prospect than Tippett sucks, but if G was unwilling to go elsewhere, then the Panthers had all the leverage.
