Last year.I can't remember the last time our blueline was this thin.
Holy shit I forgot about Marner playing D lol, lmao even.Keefe going to galaxy brain and convert Marner or Jarnkrok into that RHD we need?![]()
the words "never again" and Lajoie can be heard from Keefe's mouth behind the cue card LOLCall up Lajoie I guess
Who, Marancin?
Actually, it kind of was.
Our blueline isn't ideal, even if 100% healthy. I keep hearing that Dubas was ready to move a core piece, would be interesting to think of what our blue line would look like today had that happened. Now that Nylander is a rental and the rest of the big 4 have full NMC's, hard to see big improvements coming any time soon.

You're missing the key component, it wasn't funny.
Might've been 2020 - in Feb 2020 Rielly, Muzzin and Ceci were all out with pretty serious injuries, and we had to rely on Travis Dermott, Justin Holl, Tyson Barrie, a rookie Liljegren, Sandin and Martin MarincinI can't remember the last time our blueline was this thin.
At the time Marner's NMC wouldn't have kicked in.Dubas was talking to San Jose about Karlsson with the Leafs, and the only big 4 you can move is Nylander.
So imagine Nylander for Karlsson. How insane would this fan base be going right now.
Still not ideal, no. Having Giordano and Liljegren (and even Klingberg) available would at least keep the depth chart serviceable until reinforcements could be acquired closer to the trade deadline.
It seems plausible that Dubas would have sought to acquire Karlsson for the Leafs. It's up for debate if that would have been possible or in the club's best interests.
Nylander for Karlsson would have been interesting indeed, Karlsson is sort of what Nylander would be if he played D so it even of makes sense to a degree.Dubas was talking to San Jose about Karlsson with the Leafs, and the only big 4 you can move is Nylander.

Holl or bust IMO. It's not quite Nylander for Karlsson, but it's something at least.Speaking of names that shouldn't be said out loud three times while standing in front of a mirror, Edmonton could probably be convinced to part with Cody Ceci.

One of Timmins (he'd be my choice), Lagesson or Benoit will have to play in the top four anyway, no? I'd keep Rielly and Brodie together to utilize as a workhorse pairing.Brodie and Rielly will be on opposite pairings. No way we put Timmins in top 4.
Acquiring Karlsson was a bad idea. Acquiring Karlsson for Nylander or Marner is insanity.Might've been 2020 - in Feb 2020 Rielly, Muzzin and Ceci were all out with pretty serious injuries, and we had to rely on Travis Dermott, Justin Holl, Tyson Barrie, a rookie Liljegren, Sandin and Martin Marincin

I'm guessing the idea would have had to involve separate trades or a three team transaction as SJ received NHL players in return but none the calibre of a Marner or Nylander.Acquiring Karlsson was a bad idea. Acquiring Karlsson for Nylander or Marner is insanity.
