Donatelle, Ed.

Dude should be in DJ's will. Also there's a chance blackhawkswinthecup is Ed Donatelle.

Does anybody know what this is costing him?
Like he is missing game checks
I’m not exactly sure how NFL contracts in season are structured
It’s just one of these situations like, not much is gonna happen with him between now and the offseason

Reminds me of when Zadina was forfeiting money to bet on himself

Pro-football-reference.com does show one of his nicknames being Vanilla Vick

More white Cam Newton, really

Shame, I liked him in college. Going to the Cowboys and immediately beating the Giants would be a great story

In grand scheme, I believe he's only going to walk away with the minimum guaranteed amount, $82M. So roughly half of the contract value in total.

All the articles I am seeing says that there was no guaranteed money in the final 2 years, and that he would have been paid 78M over the final 2 years had he remained QB and fulfilled the rest of the contract. 160 - 78 = 82.

Jones contract for years 1 and 2 were fully guaranteed. He’s getting the full $35 mill of his base salary for 2024.

This is why they were benching him. Same reason Wilson got benched last season. If a guy plays and gets an injury carrying over to the next season, you're not able to fully cut ties the same way you can if he's healthy.

This is also why the Jones contract was never as bad as people said. It was always only a two-year contract with the two extra years only ever going to matter if he was good.

Correct.

And the Giants making him QB3, then QB4, and then making him play Safety in practice was basically optics to force him to quit and ask for his release.

And that the Giants were simply accomodating him rather than flat out firing him and avoiding future financial commitments.

I just think both the Giants and Jones were just happy it's over.
Instead of being a distraction, Giants can focus on 2025 with a new QB drafted hopefully.

Don't be surprised if Daniel Jones ends up with the Raiders cause MARK DAVIS

He's the prototypical "All the tools, no toolbox". He's physically similar to Herbert, doesn't have Justin's cannon of an arm (Very few do), but man, what a waste of a physical specimen.

I don't think anyone cared about the length. People were stunned at the dollars based on the body of work.

Contract year, previous years he was total ass water.
But contract year? Played as well as anyone could, let the Giants to the playoffs and got themselves a playoff win.

That contract was a farce, they should've declined it.

I'd say it's more accurate to say that he played as well as HE could. It was a decent year but nowhere near elite and it was year 4. It was clear by that point that this was the very best he could be - which wasn't anywhere near good enough to actually win consistently.

Daboll coaxing just passable production out of him set the team back a few years

He pretty much has to be heading to the Cowboys right? I know divisional rival and such but he will get an immediate chance to play with one of the best WR in the league which should at least put him on the map for a contract next year.

Only other place that I can see as a possible solution is maybe the Saints? But they’re pretty locked in with Carr even if they shouldn’t be.
How about the Raiders?

Someone who signs him for the rest of the season would be subject to compensatory draft picks, so it would definitely be worth at least that, especially when some more quarterbacks get hurt.
