Assuming we have the assets to land one of these names.
For this specific thread poll, lets say the package is..

1st (15th) Willander (Top Prospect) + Roster Player (Joshua?)

Guys like Larkin have full NTC, so I did not add them.
Also don't think its realistic to get Horvat either, due to the past, but who knows.
You get 2 votes main + Backup Option, or combine 2.

I would be perfectly fine with Moving up the Draft and resigning Suter as a stop gap until he is 100% Ready.

I am already thinking Quinn is most likely gone with this conclusion.

As for my "backup plan" If moving up is not gonna happen, I would target Rossi, seems like the best and most realistic option and really talented kid, just worry about his size.

Voted 'Other', but that could easily change.

My preference depends on a couple things - namely, FLA manages to retain Bennett on a palatable deal, but they get outbid on Ekblad. The other thing is, management is confident that D-EP can play his off side, making him and Hronek the long-term top 4 RDs.

VAN offers FLA a deal around Willander, receives Lundell as their new 2C.

Lundell is DREAM scenario, I would give Lekk willander and a 1st for him honestly

Truthfully, I think Sillinger makes the most sense. He's incredibly young but because he's been in the NHL for such a long time he feels older. Has had more ups than downs and continuously pushed down the ladder by the organization. Hasn't been able to figure it out with multiple coaches. They keep adding centres to the line-up pushing him to wing and relegating him to 3rd line minutes. Has one more season before he's an arbitration eligible RFA. Also, he's kind of dumb.

Distressed asset with some serious upside on a team that is may be looking to alter the line-up a little bit. Might even be able to offer futures in order for them to flip those futures for defensive help.

He won't be 22 years old for another 10 days so he's an upside bet. Give him opportunity in a new environment with a new coach and powerplay time, hope he breaks out.

Ideally, you can use the savings from acquiring to get a premium scoring winger.

Sillinger, Hayton seem to have some untapped potential and could be cheaper.

I'd dangle Hronek and maybe even Garland (to get more back) and try to keep our youth, because Quinn isn't staying and even so, it's the most realistic track for Vancouver to retool - be patient and look out 2-3 years.

McCann could be had as a potentially cheaper winger option as well. I like Barzal (who doesn't) but I don't know if the price and salary will be worth it since he can't stay healthy.

I would also re-sign Suter as he can play anywhere in the lineup.

Someone mentioned Mittelstadt in another thread with negative views of him. I don't think the Bruins are looking to get rid of his contract after his somewhat decent start. I have a more positive view of him. If you gave me a choice between Chytil and Mittelstadt at the time of trade I would have chosen Mittelstadt.

I have liked Sillinger since the draft. He hasn't quite developed as expected though. Still would target him and give him a shot. I think the team should be focused on adding more young talent instead of trying to find that 28-30 year old to fill the 2C role.

Trying to be somewhat realistic...

- Josh Norris: Patrick Johnston reported the Canucks tried to flip Chytil for Norris at the deadline, I wouldn't be surprised if they kicked tires again despite Chytil suffering another concussion and Norris playing 3 games for the Sabres before getting injured and missing the remainder of the season.

He's friends with Hughes and is a legit top 6 C that can score goals. Just turned 26, but his contract is very risky given his injury problems. Would probably have to bring in another centre as well given the injury risk, such as...


- Cole Sillinger: Not currently a top 6 C, but has the potential to get there. He turns 22 next week but hasn't developed as well as CBJ had hoped. Columbus has plenty of centre depth and young forwards on the roster, as well as Luca Del Bel Belluz knocking on the door and 4th overall pick Cayden Lindstrom in the system.

Their goaltending has been bad all season EXCEPT for the meteoric rise of Jet Greaves towards the end of the season. If they would be interested in Demko+ (as part of a tandem with Greaves) I would absolutely dangle him to try to get Sillinger, though that would likely mean taking back all or most of Merzlikins' contact.

They'd probably want Willander, but I'd rather hold on to him if possible.


- Marco Rossi: He's obviously available. He's a top 6 centre. I noticed some Wild fans mentioned Russo (not Rossi) was on a podcast saying that Rossi (not Russo) had been dealing with a "myriad of injuries" since February. Could help explain some of his 2nd half troubles.

Sounds like it would cost a lot to acquire him and sign him.

Resign Suter and swing for the fences with a big trade including the assets you've mentioned and potentially more. Our bottom 6 is now deep in terms of young options (not high end talent, granted). We can potentially afford to trade a couple of roster assets and a prospect+pick, imo.

Joshua + Hogs, as an example, potentially free's up $6.25M to work with. Joshua + Chytil $7.75M.

The big questions for me are whether or not they can retain/resign Boeser, how much cap space that will leave us, and THEN whether or not Rutherford and Alvin can work some trade magic to gain a legit top 6 C.

Voted 'other', knowing full-well that there probably isn't anything close to a legit No. 2 center who'd be available in a trade.

As far as the list, it's basically 'none of the above' . They would all come with some serious baggage and limitations, and would cost far too much.

Re-signing Suter is the easiest solution.....but the problem is, he isn't a legitimate No. 2 center either.

But I do see a couple players from the bargain bins whom you neglected to mention who could be strongarmed and dumped to Vancouver.

Without knowing who Ruthervin likes it's really tough to say. They generally play their cards close to their chest.

I voted resign Suter and target Rossi, but there are a fair number of other options that are realistic. Barzal, paired with Raty to take draws could work if they have chemistry. Horvat coming back with a different coach and Miller gone might even be realistic as might some blockbuster to land Jack Hughes.
