Joni Burkardt is just killing it since getting back on the pitch & into form. 5 goals in 6 BuLi games (6 in 7 counting the pokal) to start this season for the young Mainz forward after closing last season with 7 goals + 2 assists in his final 11 games last season.

Not an elite athlete or otherworldly technician, but the kid just knows where to be to create danger. He has a lot of the same things going for him that Undav does.

So Kai just needed to get out of a toxic relationship. Glad he’s finding his form and can express himself. He was really a joy in Germany

There's a reason why NT-Kai was a thing during his Chelsea days

After eight rounds Regensburg in 2. BuLi are somehow still right there with the rest of the teams in the relegation battle while having a goal differential of 1:19, as they've picked up a win and a tie. And they beat Bochum in the Pokal too.

Kompany's tactics getting exposed this early in the season is good to see. Glad they haven't racked up too many points before opponents realized that this Bayern might be the most vulnerable to counters of any Bayern side in recent memory.

Their attacking play is wild, but both Kimmich & Pavlovic need a more defensive & mobile/robust partner. What's so weird is that Goretzka was finally taking to that kind of holding 6 role next to Pavlovic last season...and he is physically perfect for the role...while Kimmich was thriving at RB.

...but Kompany changed that up and now their double pivot isn't providing enough cover to a defense that looks over-stretched any time their pressing fails to win the ball back high up the pitch.

Glad he's no longer our problem but that's still really s***ty. I worry that Hollerbach is similarly s***ty. He's still young, so hopefully he expanded his worldview and doesn't pollute his mind with as much alpha-bro bulls*** anymore...but it's hard sometimes not to assume that he's just learned to be more quiet about it :-/

Anyways this international break is going well for the german NTs in action, so far. Our U21s secured the group with a match to spare. The senior team could secure a spot in the final round with a win and draw in the Bosnia. The U20s & U19s were able to turn games around & win after conceding the opener, and our U17s rolled to a dominant win.

...haven't watched that one yet but interested because it will be my first look at Matteo Palma. After a few starts for Udinese's U21 team, the 16yo Berliner has gotten his senior team debut in the Coppa Italia and made the bench for 5 Serie A matches this season; though he's still waiting for his Serie A debut.

Curious to see if he just developed early or if he has that beyond-his-years smoothness that Jeltsch has and Thiaw showed as a teenager.

Wanner’s goal is a real beauty. Both Gruda’s run to set it up & Wanner’s take were really impressive. This team could be very fun in 2026.

With just a ton of strong options around Musiala & Wirtz…Undav, Havertz, Burkardt, Füllkrug, Kleindienst, Gruda, Wanner, Leweling, Adeyemi, Beier, etc.

Gittens is a vastly different player coming in as a sub and as a starter. I'm too lazy to check but I'm like 90% sure all of his goal contributions have come as a sub in both BuLi and UCL.

Dortmund hasn't really played a single good game in BuLi yet. I would say they've seemingly started focusing on the UCL more but this team isn't exactly a lock to even play champions league football next season in its current form.

Great goals by Bensebaini and Eric Smith.

I have seen next to nothing from Eric Smith before this match, so I was surprised how good he was.

If this match is anything to go by, can't see him staying with St.Pauli if they're relegated.

Really don’t think that should be a penalty

Well, awful penalty from Boniface so maybe justice won out.

Marmoush at the other end scores confidently from the spot.

And Xavi Simons puts Leipzig ahead, they're now top of the table, at least until Bayern play later today.

What misses during the last minutes of the match.

First Schick misses in front of empty goal, not reaching a good cross by Frimpong. And then Ekitike misses an even better chance, fails making a header when alone in front of goal. Although maybe you could argue that Tah made a subtle enough nudge on his body to put him off balance but not to concede a penalty.
