King will pursue NYR netminder records, and as long as he plays well enuf, he deserves opportunity to, in competitive construct.

The fans come first which = idea is to win.
We appreciate individual players, some more than others, but in the end they are all assets to be kept or moved as is best overall strategy.

Moving Hank is a non-starter. Team is beginning upswing, finally signs of a good D for first time in yrs. He likes it here. Less than 1% he agrees to waive NMC to go to cup contender this yr. MAYBE 3% he takes cup run for last months of next season, maybe.
More likely he stays if healthy, but in greatly diminished role.
By that I mean his interests have to yield to youth, but he can be a backup next year, and given there are 100 ish games if you include preseason and playoffs, can do third string after that at league min, as he's made his $, and that would be price for his retaining a roster spot.

Shesty we want to give max 9 games this yr, preserve his elc. He will deserve to make team next year. Even if he were not better, gets nod over Geo due to elc vs rfa and need to plan to be cost controlled as much as possible for not only Kap + Krav etc rfa starts, but also if we wanna pitch for Taylor Hall or similar.

Geo is out by process of elimination, but we don't give him away. He is either worthwhile return 1:1 or a package sweetener.

Should not forget Hulska and Wall look good for down the road, and that does include the high pick we invested in another G like 2 yrs ago. Thus we are deep enuf to exploit our options as above.

Let's not kid ourselves here, NYR's defense is still absolute garbage, but it has future potential to not be garbage when some of the dead weight is gone.

On another note, I don't think there's any way Hank re-signs for league minimum as a backup.
Lundqvist gives up 6 goals: "This defense sucks. Lundqvist was left out to dry"
Georgiev gives up 6 goals: "See? He isn't as good as Lundqvist"

Some of the Lundqvist defenders are just as bad as the Lundqvist bashers when it comes to twisting facts to suit their narrative. Both are good goalies, both have games where they give up bad goals. Both have games where the defense leaves them out to dry.
Absolutely. Hank has just been left out to dry a bit more than Georgiev this season. Not that "slightly less garbage defense" is any consolation, Georgiev has had to be really sharp to keep his team in the game as well. And some games neither Lundqvist nor Georgiev can stop the onslaught, because the team and supposed structure in front of them just implodes.

Both how them have played some solid goaltending so far and Lundqvist with his salary and experience has been a bit better, given the situations they've been in. When Lundqvist retires, Georgiev looks like he can handle a starter role.
