I shot the taxi driver with an assault shotgun from point blank range through the driver's window. Got away, hit L, beep. Nothing happened.

I wonder if I need to do it in a, uh, less violent way. Bury a hatchet on the guys skull or something?

Haha, maybe

If you go up to the cab, after you call for one, you can hold Y (or whatever button it is on PC to enter a vehicle) rather than just pressing Y, this will jack the taxi. You should be able to hit the horn button immediately. And whoever you're controlling will ask dispatch for a fare, then they put it on your GPS.

So, we might've had some extra time on our hands. This is on medium graphics btw, and the game still manages to look pretty darn good.

Also, some explanation may be required for the next one:

Me: "Hey, hang on, I've got an idea"
Crew member #1: "Uh..."
Me: "Let's take that chopper to the top of Mt. Chiliad, hover it, like, just under the ramp, then #2 jumps off the ramp with his bike."
#2: "Well, okay"
#1: "Hmm, yea, why not."

10 minutes later:

Me: "Holy **** that's awesome"
#2: "WHOOOOOOOOAAAASHI-"
#1: "...Did you make it?"
Me: "I think he might've just survived that"
*#2 has committed suicide*

Oi. I maybe be bat**** insane, but I'm not THAT insane.

I demand a video of the helicopter stunt.

Sorry, we didn't record it.

We might give it a shot tomorrow though. All you really need is a guy with a bike (could get his POV as well, in 1st person), a guy in a chopper to keep the thing level and not turn the biker into mincemeat when he takes off and another guy in the chopper to take screenshots.

Technically, you should have two guys with good PCs for the recording. Then again, I'd really want to pull off that jump successfully. Never actually landed the thing and remained alive on a bike, not sure if it's even possible.

TL;DR: We don't have video. We may have one in coming days.

E: SC, Nachos, you there? Let's get this show on the road.

Let us revisit this one:

Exported with medium bitrate on 30fps because my PC isn't exactly high-end. Still, I think the content is what matters.

Happy? There might be more angles coming.

HAHAHAHAHAHA that's a more epic landing than landing on the bonus platforms in Pilotwings for SNES.

But to be honest I was kind of interested to see what happens when he lands in the blades :sarcasm:

Cross-platform play is never impossible with todays consoles. It's just usually blocked by microsoft or sony or nintendo. They often won't let their consoles play games with other consoles or PC's, which is really just a shame.

You die.

Glad you liked it though. It was a solid team effort, one guy flew the chopper to the mountain (some 2.5 miles I think?) while I rode it about 1.5 miles to location and the guy who was driving the boat had to go and get one from the Vespucci Beach I think, which is... some 6 or 7 miles away as the bird flies. With a boat, he pretty much had to get rid of the cops, then go around the map (since he'd already gone like 2 or 3 miles that way) on a police boat until finding a better one along the way. That is before having to endure a narrow river with some nasty creeks and stuff. To quote him, "Well, that's 20 minutes of my life gone". All the more reason why we were pretty happy to get it done relatively quickly, if not easily.

But yeah, it was somewhat of a planned stunt. I was the one who came up with the idea of adding the boat landing, and probably most surprised that we pulled it off. Solid team effort, and major kudos to everyone involved. It's not easy to hold a helicopter level and somewhat stationary, not to mention that close to the cliff. And the timing of the boat driver had to be spot on, because the parachute won't glide forever so there wasn't much room for error.

Haha, that's sweet.

Do you always play in first person? I tried it, but found it cumbersome more often than not. And I don't like that you can't just walk at regular walking speed when you're in first person. At least on XB1 you're always jogging.

I don't think the POV affects anything else on PC. Not sure though.

And no, I seldom play in first person when I'm doing missions, unless it involves driving/riding. Since discovering that an actual first person driving view exists (as opposed to the stupid hood cam), I've been using it near-exclusively. Gives you so much more control and allows me to drive much better, even though the game doesn't have wheel support (which sucks).

TL;DR: I drive in first person.

Battlefield Hardline is still the best game released this year. Truly fantastic shooter.

Is that why you can play FF14 with people on PC or Console?

FFXIV has exactly what to do with GTAV? I don't follow what you're trying to say.

MMO =/= GTA:O.

M$ and Sony don't want cross-platform play for competitive, twitch games with PC. Ever tried to snipe with a mouse/keyboard with a quality gaming mouse that has multiple DPI settings vs sniping with a controller? PC wins. Why would they want an uneven playing field for their users?

Not to mention, unless a third party is in place, XBL and PSN friends lists are incompatible. Introducing third parties hurts everyone.

Finished my first season with the Wild on EHM. I was the highest scoring team in the league!

There are some wonky stuff about the game (like Suter/Brodin having a crazy number of shots, haha), and scoring (league-wide) could be toned down just a tad for my tastes.

But, for what is essentially a $15 beta, I think it's a great game. Really hoping we see a full release next season!

Played Halo with a bunch of old buddies last night. One of them works at 343, the company that makes Halo. He couldn't really talk about Halo 5 but he did talk about some of the culture stuff in the company and it sounds great.

I've been thinking more and more once I graduate I want to go work at a game developer. Activision has a subsidiary in Eden Prairie, I would love to work there for a bit before moving out to Washington or something to work. It's what makes sense for me and with my degree - Human Resources - I can pretty much work anywhere as long as I have some type of prior experience.

But back to the video games, here is a clip I made from a game last night:

I'm a big Halo fan, but my excitement level for the series really dropped after Halo 4. I thought the campaign was really solid but multiplayer was just not the same. Then with all the problems with MCC, I know a lot of people aren't thrilled with 343 right now. Even if they didn't do all of MCC.

The Halo 5 beta was solid. It felt very polished and I'd say felt better than 4 in my limited time playing.

Anyway about working for a game developer, it sounds like many people work long, long hours, and it seems like the job security is well below average. That's why I would never want to work for one. But since you're in HR, it's a different story. In that case, I think it'd be pretty cool. I'm sure the culture is pretty much the opposite of a corporate office, so that would be interesting.
